i dont think it would be that much bigger a payday, considering Pavlik-Hopkins could be held in front of like 30,000 at browns stadium...

He must have a good manager. Remember before the Trinidad fight, we used to hear Hopkins say he'll go to 154 to fight the champions there. He's picking the right fights but there still a risk, after all he is an old fighter.

Why does everyone want Pavlik to move up so goddamn soon. Stay at middleweight please.

How many times has Hopkins fought a young live heavy handed opponent who was the same size as him in the last 15 years ?

Trinidad comes to mind, sure he wasn't the youngest, but he sure had some power.

And we all know how that turned out.

And **** Pavlik Hopkins, I'd rather see Hopkins vs Calzaghe. Though it could be possible for Hopkins to fight both.

In say March or April, Hopkins fights calzaghe for an eliminator bout to fight Pavlik.

Then in say September or October Hopkins (or Calzaghe) fights Pavlik.

The only problem with this is that Hopkins and Calzaghe are bigger names in general so it doesn't really make sense for them having an elimination match to face the smaller guy, but yeah it could work.

Though man, Hopkins and Calzaghe and then Hopkins vs Pavlik. What a year that would be.

That would be the first time I ever saw 2 fighters in an eliminator bout that are more accomplished than the champion they are trying to get a bout with.

I'm Shocked, Benard fighting someone two weight classes down from where he is currently at. Sure huge payday, and that is his primary concern, but please can you fight the winner of Kessler or Calzaghe or possibly Chad Dawson? No need for replies, I am keenly aware of the ubsurdity of my wishes.

Keep in mind that this is Bob Arum talking, not Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins has stated publicly that he wants to fight the winner of Calzaghe-Kessler next. He hasn't mentioned Kelly Pavlik. The writer of this article also claimed that Hopkins can't make 160 so the fight would have to be made at the high 160s. That is not true. Hopkins can easily make 160, and if they fought, he would school Pavlik for 12 rounds in boring but one-sided fight.

In case you didn't know, Pavlik has a pretty hard time staying at middleweight.
