you cant really invent a punch, he just invented a name for it. its like a signature move or something. like those gay things Roach comes up with, like his 'Manilla Ice'. its just Manny's right hook, everyone can throw that ****, but somehow it still has its own name...

Bolo punch is different though it is a punch that got its name from the movement of the punch... Bolo is a knife used in the philippinies to cut sugar cane...and the bolo punch uses the same sweeping movement...

yea but the point is plenty of people can through sweeping punches, and without training whatsoever in fact. Calzaghe throws his punches with sweeping motions, but I think a more appropriate name for his punches would be '***** slaps of death'. I doubt anyone would say that Calzaghe goes into fights and throws 'bolo' punches. you can see little children get hit fights and throw sweeping punches all over the place.

the fact that he came up with the name for the punch and that it became boxing jargon shows that it he influenced boxing of course...but i just dislike the idea of someone having 'invented' a punch. I dont know who invented the name for the jab, but Im positive the punch had been used before they had named it.

the thing that gets me about these pinoy wannabe fans is they have one good
fighter in pacquiao and they want to be at par with mexico. it'll never happen! for one thing, mexico has had 143 world champions. 106 of them from mexico and another 37 mexican-americans. the philippines has had only 32 total. the only good fighters the philippines has ever produced are pacquiao, pancho villa, and luisito espinosa. that's it! in fact, out of the 32 world champions the philippines has produced, they have a total of 45 successful title defenses or 1.3 per champion. that my friends is piss poor. hell, just julio cesar chavez
(27) and ricardo lopez (24) alone have more successful title defenses than the whole philippine nation! that's pathetic and just goes to show that pinoy fighters are vastly overrated overall. also, mexico has 21 hall of famers while pinoys have 2. one more stat, in title fights, mexico dominates the philippines by the score of 33-14-2 with 19 KO's. that's ownage!

i wish these little pinoysters would stop trying to be equal to mexico in boxing cause it will never happen.
