On another note, yes Barrera is getting older as well and he's past his prime BUT I would never say fighting Barrera is a free pass at a win. These guys are still dangerous....just not as dangerous as they once were.
peak prime or just prime, it's still a dangerous EM. and no, he wasn't over the hill at that time. its funny how odd makers didnt almost give pac a chance coming into the 2nd fight, and then after the KO, EM just suddenly became past his prime.

ive been watching boxing since i first saw live the thrilla in manila and had followed the sport since. you?

I still cant imagine why so many people downgrade the achievements of PAC..

Who is the only fighter you know who began fighting at minimumweight and is now a champ at 130? Who is the only fighter you know who was a champ at 112 lbs and now beating the ass of everyone at SF? Who was the only fighter to KO Erik Morales, not once but twice? Who is the only fighter you know who takes an 'Oscar Larios" as a tuneup fight? Bajeesus...Give the man his due! Hate him all you want but you cant deny his greatness...lol ;P

Who's denigrating his accomplishments? He's no less than the second best fighter in the world, a sure first ballot HOFer and the only man in history to win the lineal Fly and Feather crowns. That can't be denigrated. That's why I noted that this question of comp is a question of the moment and not history general.

but it's fairly easy for you to say and question the competition w/o even mentioning the situation/reasons as to why those happened. the promotional conflicts, the rematches against jmm and mab that didnt happen, w/c wasn't pac's fault. but still they have their rights to exercise the rematch clause that's why fights w/ mab is on, and surely w/ jmm soon. and the fighters u mentioned, soto/guzman weren't on the elite radar screen yet at that time. it was only this year that they came forward to call out pac, surely for the money right?

this situation is a lot different from mayweather''s i think, he had elite boxers to choose from for some time now but opt not to.

I wasn't criticizing his comp from 3-4, or even 1, year ago so why would I mention that? I note that new names have emerged recently and that the current direction isn't making those fights imminent. More important, I note that Mayweather getting a world of deserved grief should only fairly apply that standard to his main competitor for the mythical nonsense of P4P stuff.

truthfully speaking in most cases its hard to critize anybodys competition. I say that because in most cases you can never totally blame one fighter for certain fights not being made. Both sides have to agree to terms that are beneficial for both not just one.

and that's why i mentioned the difference in situations between the two, and why manny should and is entitled to get a 'free pass'

                good debatable article though.

                  HAHAHAHAHAH

Pacman is cleaning up his division by fighting smaller men moving up and coming off losses. He never fought a natural 130er

Love El Terrible to death...but the man has lost 5 of his last 6 fights. Still think he isn't past his prime? He was nowhere near his prime.

Like it or not, especially when you go to war, the punches catch up to you. Shots that never bothered you before are all of a sudden stunning you. That's the price.

And I don't recall the oddsmakers "not giving Pac a chance". I for one was totally against the rematch. Totally wanted to see the fight, but I was aware of Morales decline and picked Pac to win the rematch.
