Is Manny Getting a Free Pass Mayweather Didn’t?

If you think that was Prime Erik Morales then you haven't been watching boxing very long. But I do give credit to Pac for being the one to push him over the edge of the cliff that he was standing on. El Terrible is still my favorite, I just don't want to see him fight anymore.
On another note, yes Barrera is getting older as well and he's past his prime BUT I would never say fighting Barrera is a free pass at a win. These guys are still dangerous....just not as dangerous as they once were.Comment

this right on the button ... barrera is still barrera ...
he is still competitive against anybody at 130 and i dont see him getting koed at the weight by anybody except for pac...Comment

Barrera was a 10-1 favorite against Pac in their first fight. This after Pac moved to 126 in his first fight.
Raheem would give problems to any fighter, not just Morales, given his interest in a marathon rather than boxing in every match.
People didn't really give Pacquiao much of a chance against Morales in a rematch because he couldn't do anything to negate Morales' style, so they say.
I'm still anxious to see Pac against Guzman and Valero. I don't think Soto would be much of a challenge anyway. But to write off his accomplishments right now against legendary fighters is outright downplay. No one kd's and ko's great fighters just like that.Comment

Just take a look at Pac's opposition and manner of victory and take a look at Fake Floyd. Pac is cleaning up his division.I agree with this article, and I have been saying the same about pac's recent opposition for a while now. I dont blame him, because he is maximizing his income, and that's what I (and probably all the people who talk ****, if they ever saw serious money in their lives) would do.
I blame the idiots who think is Mayweather is a coward and Pac is the hero for doing the same thing
Fake Floyd runs like a chicken from the Baldo, and old DLH's.Comment

I couldn't even see how Fake Floyd could even threaten PAC's spot given that he runs like a complete chicken from vastly outclassed opponents like Baldo and an old DLH.
Add the fact that he handpicks safe opponents.Comment

JoArt: You're right; prior to the Marquez fight I did think Manny was slightly overrated at featherweight. I also have been one of the primary voices behind the Manny as #1 P4P over the last year and a half. I have him rated in a tie with Mayweather right now (check the BScene Top Ten) after having him ahead of Floyd after Morales II/Larios. Bottom line...Fake Floyd has fought better comp this year by quite a bit (and no, I do not assume he mows Hatton so all this may be moot) and Pac-MAB II is a good fight in name brand only.Comment

Another writer that goes with the hype
This writer certainly believes what he reads and not what he sees. First of all, if he'd saw Marco's last fight he'd know that MAB won that fight clearly. Now think about this kid. If Marco beat Marquez, whom kicked Pacman's ass after his 3 knock downs, what does that tell you, exactly Manny beat a MAB who was off his game that night 'cause of the distractions cause by the ex promoter, plate surgery and so on. C'mon you think a 100% Marco would have been manhandled like that, The same Marco who beat Morales, before Morales went in kicked Manny's ass for 12 rounds, or beat Marquez, who kicked Pacman's ass for 11 rounds. I don't even mention the other fighters, Manny has beaten 'cause they're all B level fighters. You media People are trying to build this Pacman up to exploit a country that support's Manny 100%. C'mon now, be a good boxing writer and give us an honest point of view.Comment

This is an honest take and I don't care what I 'read'. I think I went out of my way to state that Manny's foes, even off losses, have still been very good; that the point of diminishing returns, if it's here, is beginnign to hit with the foes this year. However, I think you're letting your minds eye overrule your current one. I thought JMM beat MAB pretty clearly; I also thought and wrote after the fight that it was a good fight between clearly aging fighters. They're still hitting the corners, but JMM and MAB have lost a step and are fading fast. I agree that MAB was distracted in 2003, and that a rematch even one year ago may have told us more. But we're four years away from 03 and so is MAB. He's an old name more than a superior fighter at this point. Pac is still in his prime. The only way he should lose, that the fight should even be close, is if the coporate comercial take, that Mannys is now 'distracted', turns out to be true. When the selling point of a fight is "Maybe the favorite will show up ****ty" that's not real promising.Comment
