The timing was perfect for Pavliks win on Saturday. UFC has had(from what I've read I don't watch it) bad decisions and the Great UFC hope Chuck Liddell got beat again recently. What's weird is I told my coworkers(who are white) to watch Pavlik when he fought Miranda last May and their first response was "Oh he's white he probably can't fight" at the same time those people are Hardcore UFC fans and buy all the PPVs We all know combat sports have always benefited ratings wise from white fighters. We all know if Matt Hughes and Chuck Liddell weren't white they wouldn't be as popular. I hate to go Johnny Cochran on you but "If it was Tyrone Hughes and Hector Liddell the **** wouldn't sell"

Arum's right though. You think Dana White wanted to see a young, charismatic white guy from the Midwest knock out the middleweight champion of the world?
Acually yes. One of Dana's flaws is that he doesn't know to promote international fighters. if an American can put Anderson's lights out, he's be all over that like white on rice. But for now, there is almost no one with an advanced clinch game like Anderson's in the UFC.

Yeah. A lot of people, fan, fighter and jurno alike are pretty much pissed off that we're continously getting robbed by judges that don't know what they're looking at and aren't held accountable for their actions. The last card, not only did Cecil Peoples not only robbed a guy out of a dominant match, he was the only guy who gave Liddell the fight over Jardine, when clearly it's the other way around. We have a flawed ten point system that we'd like to retool, but in other to do that, we must make sure that there is consistant judging by judges.

As to Liddell being the great hope for UFC, I don't think that's true. Great Dana White Hope maybe, but not great UFC hope. Even after Jackson took the belt away from Liddell, White hard pushed Liddell in the MSM instead of Jackson. Not because Liddell is white, but White used to be his former agent. White is "buddy booking" Liddell as a star and was not following protocal. If there was a big "UFC hype", it would have been Jackson or Randy Couture easy.

Also, UFC scored a 3.1 Neilsen. The highest a live televised UFC event ever scored. The main event was Quentin Jackson vs. Dan Henderson in a unification match.

Wasn't that on Cable? UFC has something boxing doesn't. A cable channel(Spike) that is dedicated to the sport. The sad part is ESPN(especially Sportscenter) doesn't even mention the sport They should have gave Tay-Pav at least 10% of the coverage they gave to PBF and Oscar.

Yep. On SPIKE. This was their second euro PPV televised. UFC has this weird thing about time delay.

Boxing weigh ins aren't covered by ESPNEWS?

The Reason he put that card on Free spike was because

                  1. It was in London and the time difference ****s up the PPV's because nobody wants to watch a ppv card at 12:00 Pm in the afternoon. He got a huge crowd in Europe because of Bispin and Crocop. alot of people left the arena after the bispin fight.

                  2. Nobody was going to pay for henderson Vs Rampage, Only die hard MMA fans even knew who they were before they came to the UFC. Like Ive always said, If Liddell would have won, there's no way that card would have been free.

Another thing I want to add, Yes the ratings were great. But WWE gets those kinds of ratings almost every week. If Kelly Pavlik Vs Jermain Taylor was on ESPN2 what kind of ratings do u think they would have gotten?

This is hilarious, way to raise the stock of Pavlik as a promoter. This much or less lables Pavlick as the premier fighter, and if I was Pavlik I would bring this quote up in his next fight.

Pavlik is also IMO the most exciting fighter in boxing and the best KO artist, that will also help sway viewers away from the UFC and help restore boxing as the Glamour Combat Sport. Bob Arum is partially right.
