Without a doubt the stoppage was premature.
JT wasnt given the benefit of the doubt that Pavlik was given in round 2.
Would JT have gotten up and made a comeback?
probably not
Would JT have gotten up?
Probably not.
My thought is that the kid fought his ass off and deserved the oppourtounity to get up and fight back. Chances are he would have gotten stopped, chances are he wouldnt have won, but being the middleweight champ of the world, Taylor deserves the benefit of the doubt.
Thoughts?????
well i dont think the stoppage was premature. if you look back taylor was getting pounded on without answering back with any shots or covering up. in boxing thats good enough reason to stop the fight. if taylor had took a knee he would have been able to take a breather and rally back to finish the round. given the pride that taylor has he refused to fall which resulted in the stoppage. i don't know if taylor would have gotten stopped later or not but he should have took a knee to prevent the fight from being stopped.
Initially I thought the stoppage was premature. The fact for me that it wasn't is that neither JT or ES protested in the least. JT was not going to get up and resume fighting and had he he would have been KO'd not TKO'd.

The ref should have given an count...Just like he allowed Pavlik to chicken dance the entire second round...
Pavlik is a huge star now. White. Talented. Big puncher. This guy is exciting as they come. And a great, humble champion.
It makes me feel good inside knowing Pavlik will be the champ for years to come.
Why does "white" need to be throwin in there? who gives a ****? when did color of skin start becoming something to throw in with boxing qualifications and skills?
I hope Pavlik reps the belts like taylor did, taking chances and fighting the best, even if it might not make you look great.
