I agree Pavlik's going to be big. Boxing just needs more American white fighters. 18 to 30 yr old white males are naturally drawn more to UFC and other MMA organizations because they feel they are better represented. If your not represented your less likely to follow or pay attention to a sport. Would Blacks/********** pay any attention to golf if not for Tiger Woods. Pavlik winning could be the best thing for boxing I only wished ESPN Sportscenter would have at least talked about it on air.

the color spectrum is shifting because most of our best atheletes, white or not in america, are not boxing, period. Notice in the higher weights you see alot more foreign talent, our biggest and best atheletes in america, white or not, do not want to become boxers. think about 160-heavyweight, how many americans are competitors in those particular divisions, you can practically count them on one hand.

But to give you one all too common example: I went to the bar tonight to watch. The guy next to me told me he was a Philly native (like me!!) and an old Hagler and Hopkins fan. I pointed to Pavlik and said that's maybe the next middleweight champ. He said "he'll lose, he's white."

You muh'****ers know by now that I had difficulties in keeping myself from knocking his old white ass unconscious.
What u say is spot on cause at the bar where I was there were a lot of white guys picking Taylor, and I am like listen look at their last 4 fights.

I've never really bought into it, but I am starting to think that the better athletes realy ARE choosing the lower-risk, higher-paying mainstream sports. It does seem that the white athlete isn't finding success in team sports, but IS finding more success in boxing, for example.
Has nothing to do with how difficult something is. Its about what the kids see around them. Boxing gyms aren't as prevalent as they once were unless we are talking big cities. Football is everywhere in every state. It wont be hard for a kid to find a basketball court either.

Also these sports are on cable television a lot, and are covered by big networks on a daily basis. You can bet your ass if boxing was on CBS and FOX every Sunday afternoon that kids would be flooding boxing gyms.

It goes back to what i said. I'll bet my ass that guy hadn't seen Pavlick fight.

Whites are not expected to do well, because they have'nt in soooo long.

That is changing. As to why, well thats open to debate!
