Pea would have never gotten hit with that right hand from Tszyu. And if he did, his chin would have gobled it up.

Some people think Pernell was more fun to watch than PBF because Pea did his defensive moves in the pocket while PBF circles and goes in/out more. PBF has more pop, and is taller with the longer reach. Pernell's defense and countering are a wondrous thing.

Pernell, despite being a small man, still had a good jab.

Until Trinidad, when Pea was all cracked-out, he didn't suffer a clear loss.

He is a great, great fighter.
    Well said.

Watch Judah vs. Witter & Judah vs. Negron, and tell me he doesn't look like Whitaker. By the way, Witter didn't even really attempt to win the fight against Judah, it kind of reminded me what Jones did against Tarver in the rubber match, just tried to hang around the whole fight.

I think so too but I think in order for people to do that they first want to see that fighter lose. Roy jones was hated by many too but once he lost 3 in a row those same people started ranking him as one of the all-time greats referring to him as unbeatable at his prime and such.
Roy was hated cause he refused to face some of the better competition. At the time some of it was in Europe and he refused too. Now we have some good European fighters and it makes Roy not look so good but still the fact can't be denied that Roy was a great fighter, just had one too many ****ty opponets.

Actually, after many years of practice in just about any sport, the mind tends to record and remember all of the events so that it automatically makes the body react to the same situations over and over and allowing for minimal adjustments to reach its objective.

Which is why pro athletes are pro athletes.

Ever try to hit a 100 mph fastball when you're just a beginner in baseball?

Just about anyone can do it with enough practice and time.

There was a story on Magic Johnson I read that he was able to slow down his field of vision in games and was able to see the positions of his team mates which would allow him to make incredible passes at full speed.

          It's a science thing.
I disaggree. "hands low, somtimes at his waist, squating down avoiding punchs" some would find it very had to learn this type of defence.

Much better than people gave him credit for fifteen years ago, but not nearly as good as today's Mayweather fans would like to think.

But he was more exciting than Mayweather; he had less power than Floyd but a bigger set of balls; he was more willing to fight in the pocket with bigger guys

Just his wins over Bernard hopkins and dominating a prime undefeated James toney is more then enough of a accomplishment then some other fighters had. In terms of belts/championships being a 4-weight division champion is something hard to do considering it was from middleweight to heavyweight.

4 of those opponents that I can think of went on to be very successful after getting beat by him including John Ruiz and Woods who is the current IBF light-heavy champ.

I disagree, just because you make every fight look easy prior to getting knocked out doesn't mean you fought a buncha bums.

Like I said once Roy got humbled in the ring and the fans saw a Human side of Roy they started acknowedging his greatness a little more then before.

Pernell Whitaker was a masterful boxer, fast hands, great defense, great footwork, could fight inside and out, great chin, decent power but not great. Was willing to stand and fight with anyone, exiting fighter and should go down as a legend. Fought so many great boxers and was denied being the first boxer to beat the great J.C.Chavez. I think his first loss to Ramirez was dodgy and never lost another fight until way past it and over the hill. P4P was definately in the top25.

When did he ask how good Sweet Pea was compared to Floyd. Personally they are nothing alike other than their defensive prowess. I didn't know Floyd was the measure of greatness.
