Did Freddie Roach's gameplan cost Oscar the win vs. Mayweather?

Yeah... but you can't get outlanded 2 to 1, never hurt the guy and expect to keep your belt.
Nearly every objective ringside observer had Floyd winning.Comment

WTF? Roach was telling him to keep using the jab and that was working! But it was Oscar that stopped jabbing and tried to brawl. I think Oscar has a little bit of "I can be a trainer too" mentality and got away from Roach's game plan.Comment

LOL at you guys who said Freddie ruined Oscar by turning him into a brawler and not box floyd. Arent you the same guys who thought Oscar deserved the win because he brought the fight to floyd? and how did he do this? he got him in the ropes and gave some flurries. that's what ppl who gave the win to oscar saw. i know his jab held him in the fight and freddie kept egging him on to use it, but i think it was the flurries that gave him the points, the brawling he did and not by being a boxer the whole fight.Comment

Througout training camp, Roach kept telling Oscar he was the bigger man. With more power.
On 24/7, when they were training, Roach was bumping Oscar and saying "this is a fight...**** him" (remember that?) to get Oscar in the brawling mindset.
Oscar said that he was gonna make it a rough, tough, dirty fight.
Oscar came out early and started slapping Floyd's waistpad (his idea of "going to the body").
All of this tells me that the jab wasn't a key part of their gameplan. It was something they "found" during the fight. But were not prepared to fully execute.Comment

I'm going to respectfully disagree. Wasn't it the first round when Oscar threw that six- punch slapping flurry against the ropes when the crowd went crazy? And then in round 5, Oscar cornered Floyd on the ropes and got buckled at 1:20?LOL at you guys who said Freddie ruined Oscar by turning him into a brawler and not box floyd. He lost both those rounds on all three scorecards.

no he threw them all throughout the first half of the fight, and some more later in the fight, not just 2rounds u mentioned. it's just that pbf hit a higher %age in the later rounds than oscar.I'm going to respectfully disagree. do u think the fight would actually be closer if oscar boxed the more pure boxer pbf the whole night?? i dont think so.Comment

thats a little misleading, most international press had it a draw or favored one guy by a point...america is more used to and appreciates defensive boxing more, thats why most american experts had floyd winning...i think it could have gone either way, the compubox numbers looked dubious(ive seen a round of castillo mayweather in which i counted 24 hits by castillo, clearly, i left out all the ones i had doubt about and compubox said he only landed 9 total punches), but i think floyd won his rounds more clearly, its some of oscar's rounds that couldve gone to floyd, so i dont have a problem with floyd winning...Comment
