The Hattonettes wet their panties every time Floyd talks.

But Hatton has been doing ALL the talking here. Which is fine. I understand that he needs to try to build up his ego. His trainer and his dad have told him for so long that he can't beat Floyd, and he has run from Mayweather for so long, that now the insecurity has set deep. He has to try to convince himself. That's fine.

They should've gotten a stadium but the fight is in the winter so that pretty much eliminates a stadium in New York, Boston or Chicago. They could've put 50,000 butts in the seats. I don;t like the casinos much. There are not as many hardcore boxing fans. Highrollers yes.

Mitchy. You just don't know very much about the sport. Or punctuation.

              Pesto,

To make the economics work for a big fight, you almost have to affiliate with a casino. That is why you see the vast majority of big-names fights end up in ******** towns.

Additionally, imagine yourself with an average or crappy seat at a football-type stadium. You can barely see the action in the ring. And 40 minutes later, the fight is over and then you are doing...what? Walking around in Phoenix or San Diego?

Fights in stadiums work over here so why can't they work over there?

Different cultures. Brits tend to be more rabid about their star athletes. Mike Tyson and Oscar Delahoya were HUGE boxing stars. There's NO WAY 10,000 US fans are flying overseas to watch them fight.

You guys watch football (soccer) and rugby. Americans watch NFL and baseball and basketball. So, obviously, the sports culture is different. Amnerican sports is very commercial/corporate - oriented.

It is very rare for a fight to sell 20K here in the states. Boxing fans are more apt to watch on TV with replays, commentary, etc. Almost every big PPV that I have seen has been part of a fight party at my home or somebody else's.

Americans have big casinos in dedicated towns with huge hotels. They are ideally suited to handle fight weekends.

Brits support their fighter unconditionally. Hatton was taking a dump in the ring with Urango. The Brit fans were cheering loudly as if it was The Thrilla in Manila. By contrast, US fans will boo or leave if the fight gets boring.

                    Just so many differences.

I understand the culture difference but don't you think it's disappointing? I mean, boxing is said to be struggling right now, on the whole, so a fight like this, which could sell out a stadium, is surely good for the sport?

If this fight was to take place at a stadium, say 40,000, the atmosphere would be electric and the media would jump on it because it would be different for a boxing event in America.

That can't be a bad thing and it certainly shouldn't be dismissed merely due to cultures.....boxing needs a helping hand so a change in direction could have very positive effects long term.
