Because, Mayweather is touted as being the best in the sport.

The best in the sport wouldn't get tattooed like that.

The best in the sport wouldn't be made to look like a fool by Zab Judah for 4 consecutive rounds.

Bernard Hopkins has the best defense in the sport.

I do agree - Mayweather has one hell of a defense.

But not the best in the sport.

What I'm referring to is the observation that if Floyd's offense was as great as his defense, then he would truly be #1 p4p or an All Time Great. Offense is his big negative.

Interesting, this is the first I remember hearing criticism of Mayweather's offense.. Please elaborate.

No explanation necessary. Just listen to Larry Merchant on HBO. He'll tell you all about it. Floyd's fights are for the most part....boring. Why? It's like watching Rocky Balboa trying to catch that chicken till he's all wore out. Floyd is the chicken, and everybody else is Rocky.

                Hmmm... I see...

                That doesn't cut it here.

                Maybe an explanation is nescessary.

Mayweather evading his opponents has NOTHING to do with his offense.

                How is that relevant?

That limited offense you're referring to is the product of an UNDEFEATED fighter.. It must be better than you think it is, eh?...

It does cut it here. Let's don't fall into that same old argument that has been the endless product of threads the past week. That being said; You are right: "Evasion has nothing to do with offense." Proved my point completely. When 90% of Floyd's fights constitute evasion, that means 90% of the fight, Floyd is playing defense. Result: Boring fight, unless somebody can catch the elusive Mayweather. And, he is very elusive. But, a knock out king he will never be. And don't give me the old "you just don't appreciate the art of boxing" crap. If Mayweather is truly "the greatest" as his supporters suggest, then we might as well go olympic and make head gear mandatory. That will never happen. Why? Boxing would go broke. People would quit watching. This is why he can never live up to the hype, unless he incurs a life experiencing change. That will not happen.

                    90% huh... That's a pretty high number. I'm surprised his record isn't 0-38.

                    Anyway..

Mayweather's offensive ability has NOTHING to do with any of this ****.

I thought I was going to hear a technical analysis.. Apparently NOT.

You don't like Mayweather's evasive style.. Understood.

That doesn't mean squat. His offense is among the best in the sport.

                    FACT.

If nard had the best defense in the sport he wouldn't allow Jermain Taylor to set the pace on him and get the better for him for 2 consecutive fights. You named the one fight Floyd chose to fight mostley on the offensive rather than defensive and 4 rounds of a fight in which he completley dominated the other 8. Bernard has one hell of a defense, Floyd has the best defense in the sport.
