Who? Taylor has tied and beat elites.Controversial or not.Bernard,Winky,Ouma,Spinks. The guys Pavlik has beaten dont even hold a candle to these 4 guys. Pavlik hasnt experienced an elite fighter.Just because he has a **** load of kos doesnt mean he's going to bulldoze threw Taylor as if Taylor has 5 loses all by 1 hit kos. He's no George Foreman.
You make a solid point as well, because you're absolutely right, Pavlik hasn't faced anybody on par with the guys Taylor's faced. There's no question or comparison there. However Taylor also has never faced an opponet like Pavlik either, who throws punches in bunches and has power to spare. He's not the hardest hitter in the division, but his work rate is what does his opponets in.
It's going to be a great fight that much is for sure. And the debate will be settled once and for all on September 29th. I'm looking forward to it more with each passing day. And with Vargas/Mayorga pushed back, and Marquez/Juarez officially off, the spotlight is going to be on Taylor and Pavlik. Somebody is going to shine, that much I know.

im not denying taylors credibility. You ask who Pavlik fought so i told you. Zuniga is the guy who just humiliated Oganov. Mckart is the guy who fought Winky Wright like 40 times, and Zertuche is the guy many thought beat Zuniga.
And its not WHO pavlik beat, its how he beat them. He destroyed them and hes been in with guys a bit like Taylor.
The thing that stands out to me, besides the fact that you could argue Taylor has lost 4 of his last 5, is that he has never fought anything close to Pavlik.
A guy who punches hard, throws 100 punches a round, and can keep that pace for a full fight. Pavlik could be a bum, thats still a hard style to beat. Just so happens, Pavlik isnt a bum.
oh, and im not sayin he blows right throught Taylor, it think its an amazing back and forth fight. But i feel strongly that Pavlik is going to stop Taylor in the late rounds.
EDIT: who agrees with this idea? All fights between UP AND COMERS, should be put on Basic Cable for the world to see. That way, regardless of who wins, its a win-win situation for the sport of boxing. thoughts?
Most of the fights that are on ESPN are up and comers...
thats not the problem...
what will bring the sport back to regular cable and end hbo, showtime, and all PPVs is IF and ONLY IF (in my opinion) if a few big fights get onto basic cable like ESPN...
Imagine all the great fights we've had this year...
now imagine if the casual fans were able to watch them free on ESPN...
we need a big fight on ESPN or ABC (or whatever).
something like the Shane Mosley vs. Miguel Cotto fight...
or imagine if in 2005 the castillo/corrales fight was on ESPN and every casual fan in the world got a chance to see such a beautiful display of boxing/brawling and the incredibly AMAZING 10th round comeback by Diego Corrales...it would have boomed the sport into overdrive (as far as the casual fans go).
it would have been great but unfortunately half of the fighters (and promoters) are only interested in making the quick buck...
i can see someone like Miguel Cotto (who gave up some extra money to mosley which shows me he will give up some money to make the good fights happen) being willing to have a fight or so on basic cable from time to time.
money and greed is what has torn this sport apart honestly.
as far as the greedy fighters go (like floyd mayweather) you will NEVER see them for free on ESPN unless they are on ESPN classic or they have lost 4 or 5 fights in a row taking on a fighter on FNF's to get back into top contenter position (like we saw zab judah do tonight) but you wont see them against another great fighter on regular cable.
its unfortunate that its that way.
maybe in the distant future fighters and promoters will be active in making that change but only count on that if the rating for boxing really starts to fall below something like golf...right now as long as they make the money they seem not to care.

Its going to be a good fight I guess.Im sure Manny has some tricks up his sleeve.
I think Miranda is kinda over rated .. no not what Pavlik did to him ..which was whoop his ass
but consider this ... Miranda broke Abraham's jaw in the 6th round .. had him bleeding from the mouth for 6 rounds and failed to KO him .. granted there was other **** going on like the point deductions ... but Miranda had Abraham badly hurt .. bleeding badly from the jaw (look up the amount of blood he lost .. Abraham coulda died .. no joke) and didn't KO him.
and sure Miranda did look pretty indestructable ... but keep in mind Allan Green was able to drop him with a pretty nice left hook.
but in regards to September 29th, im gonna have to favor Pavlik, simply on the fact that he's been more impressive in his most recent fights, and has that confidence to build off of.
Jermain on the other hand, didn't really seem like he wanted the fight .. as mentioned above, didn't he call (Pavlik-Miranda) over rated, and said he wants the most money?
not to mention there's a rematch clause at 168 if Jermain loses. notice how when JT is fighting Ouma or Spinks making 160 is no problem, but when Pavlik steps up .. its a problem making the weight (see the 168 part)
I know JT has a lot of tools like his jab and footwork, but his last 2 fights he went up against opponents that were smaller and less powerful than him, and he stunk it up.

That to me, is the x factor. Is Taylor actually going to listen to Emmanuel Steward's advice this time out? Steward could map out a gameplan perfect to beat Pavlik soundly, but it all comes down to Taylor's willingness to listen. Lately, he's been doing his own thing and not listening to a word Manny tells him until Manny gets pissed and yells at him, like the Spinks fight.
I swear I thought Steward was going to have a heart attack.

Well understood, but I just feel like sometimes you guys extremely overrate Pavlik.Saying an unproven guy thats not even a champion is going to beat an elite Undisputed Champion that has fought future hof's and undisputed champions is ridiculous and you guys seem as if you're overlooking Taylor. Taylor might fight amateurish at times, but he's no push over.
