Black boxer bias

I think Kayjay's comments lie more along the lines that black people, for justifiable cultural and social reasons believe that race is more important [to whites] than it actually is. Black communities particularly in the US but to a lesser degree also elsewhere have a tendency to see racism where there is none. I'm not saying that race is a non-issue, of course it is an issue. I'm a mean looking white guy witha shaved head and despite this I have never been pulled over by the cops for any reason. A friend of mine is well dressed, respectable looking and black and he is frequently pulled over. Racism is real and still happens, there's no use pretending that it isn't.
At the same time not every decision a white person makes about a black person is based on skin colour. In fact the kind of person who makes a decision about a person based on skin colour is probably rarer now than they ever have been in human history. And bringing the topic back to boxing, if someone says that say Floyd Mayweather is a gett-faux hip-hop punk, they are not having a dig at his colour, they're having a dig at his attitude, his comments, his lousy lousy rap videos etc. They may call Judah a bad thug. Does he disprove it when he is caught on camera helping his five friends kick the crap out of someone for cheating in a street dice game? Hey Scott Harrison is a horrid little pisshead. Does that make me racist against white people? Hell no.
Interesting comments about the slave trade by the way. There seems to be an impression that white people were invading Africa, rounding up natives and shipping them off to the Americas. In reality taking ****** was a hallmark in regional tribal warfare (and in fact in most chieftain/warrior societies view the taking of women and male ****** as an integral aim of inter-tribal war) and when white Europeans showed up the local tribes quickly saw the value in trading ****** they had captured for guns and ammunition which helped chiefs to consolidate their power and capture more ******. The slave trade, as loathsome as it was, was not started for reasons of racial hatred. It was a purely financial consideration for most of the people involved. That the victims were black is almost incidental. The principle victims of Roman slavery were white, white and black people were the principle victims of slavery by the arabs and persians, ***s (the Israelites) were very famously the ****** of the Egyptians... Black ****** are simply a recent example of an abhorrent but very human practise that continues to this day in various parts of the world.Comment

Got the wrong impression of you as you seem like a humble, though opinionated person. Definitely not a racist so we have some common ground. Though I'm still having difficulty with your seeming naivette. A cultural 360 is statistically impossible as the legacy is still withstanding. I see black racism as more a defense mechanism to true racism by whites, which is a European born ideology of racial superiority as "race" to begin with is a European social construct. Any concepts as such inherited by blacks is nothing but an imitation of European ideology. To suggest that the students of this ideology overtook the creators within 50 years after hundreds of years of it being honed by the said creators, is just extremely far-fetched to me. I won't call you out on those sources, but if you do persist on pushing this myth, of course before I accept it as a valid argument, some sort of reference is needed, since it is essentially illogical.sonofsis, I'm not at the library now but I'm going over there soon. If I have the time I'll check out some sources and share the results, whether they support me or not.
I'm certainly guilty of succumbing to hyperbole at times, as that's a common form of rhetoric on here and like toyboy points out, I'm a sucker.
It does seem unlikely that "racism has done a 360 in 50 years." It would depend on what aspects you look at, if it's psychological (what conscious considerations people take into account) or social/structural. The latter can't have changed too much. Regarding the former you have to add that for whites it's unacceptable to mention race, whereas black people feel more free to do so. But in any case I'll get back to youComment
