if you hit something back and forth .. thats called volleying.

    hint .. volleyball.

*what if Hatton can't fight aggresive, all out, without the holding. see vs Tzyou.

Ricky is fast on his feet, but he's no Zab Judah.

is there any indication of how fast ricky is on his feet? the castillo fight not a good comparison cuz Castillo was a sitting duck
    ******er? Nice touch.

Anyway...serving and volleying. What Federer does that is great. Lubicic does it well.

but that was 2005. and the last time he went 12 rounds was vs Urango and wasn't very impressive
I thought the first 6 rounds were very impressive. Hatton showcased some quality boxing ability and head movement until Urango and him decided to make it a street fight. Most people forget that Hatton showcased some real boxing ability in that fight, and only remember the last 6 rounds.

      • He was alright. Fighting a limited, stiff opponent but he looked okay in that fight. He did look a little shaken up by Urango's body shots.

        • Everyone should really shut the **** up about tennis and ping pong on this thread.

Hatton is a good fighter, anyone who says otherwise is deluded or a lying to themselves.

One loss for Ricky will not make him a journeyman. Even if he doesn't look all that good, he is fighting the P4P #1.

This fight will be quite a bit more competitive than Mayweather-Gatti, don't kid yourselves.

That is my take for the fight.

            1. I was pointing out that he beat zoo in his (hatton's) backyard, because you said he was in his backyard fighting nobodies.

            2. I wrote he is the more accomplished after Mosley. Read the post before answering

            3. My argument is that at 140-147 only Mosley has (maybe) more of a claim to fight Mayweather, so Hatton deserves to be in that ring... for f's sake he is the ring champion at 140... Remember that you stated that "Hatton should not be in the ring with Floyd" and that's what I am answering

Exactly what I've been saying the entire time. Glad to hear someone else who thinks the same, and coming from a Mayweather fan who is not only non-biased but respects Hatton as well. Kudos.

Say this again more clearly or in a different way if nescessary.

From what I could tell though, I think you said that if Hatton shows up with the same intensity he did for Tszyu and tries to execute in the same fashion he will lose anyway.. Correct?

And a thief in the night slicing someone's throat would be more Court TV than Animal Planet, my friend..

I'm not sure what you're babbling about with Corrales..

That made no sense to me.

He is totally right about the animal planet part making no sense.

Basically what you are saying is that Mayweather doesn't allow people to execute their game plans? I agree 100%, that is why he beat Castillo a lot more decisively the second time. When he got caught on the ropes, he was able to slip away before getting hit, which was the perfect counter to Castillo's game plan for that fight.

By the way, Mayweather did have a tune up bout before Corrales. It was when he fought a non-title fight against Emanuel Burton on KO Nation.

I hate to break balls over something as simple as literacy, but you jump from one platform to the next with no segway whatsoever, and everything is a run on sentence.

                    • thats the strangest thing about the Urango fight.

the first 6 and the last 6 rounds were almost the exact opposite of each other.

yeah Hatton did get kinda dirty/brawling. but why, was it really the cold .. I guess we'll never know.

I still don't get why anyone would think this is going to be Calzaghe/Manfredo .. (sorry for bringing up another Brit vs American comparison)

even if Mayweather does tee up and counter Hatton a lot. RIcky probably has one of the better chins from 140 .. even to 147. (in 43 fights he's still never been KO'd and was only dropped once)

I would think using a strategy similar to vs Baldomir would benefit, but Ricky isn't nearly as slow on his feet as Carlos.

but taking hard counter shots to the face, along with having to walk down and to an extent "chase" your opponent will wear down anyone ... (how much so for Hatton?) .. what I mean is Baldomir and Hatton don't have the luxury of a long reach, so they had to fight in close

which brings me to a final point. give Floyd 20 power shots

vs the following .. Oscar De La Hoya, Baldomir, and Hatton?

which of the above do you think 20 power shots would be most effective and do the most damage?

*I count power as being able to hurt, wobble, bruise, injure or even drop an oponent.

you know a lotta people say Floyd "runs the whole time" .. yada yada. but just because he can't flat out KO you doesn't mean he does absoluty zero damage. (Baldomir's nose was cut after the first round)
