I agree. I remember watching the fight with Vasquez and that was the first time watching them both for me and I was totally impressed with JG and how he was boxing great from the outside and was using his reach to perfection. Then and tonight he just couldn't finish.

yeah that was the only real fight were i said Mexico should have this one, i kind of knew gabi would win, and i thought rey might pull it out against ponce. i was sure jhonny was going to box to victory but he got hit flush. funny when two fights go completely the opposite way you thought they would

Yeah credit to Penalosa for a good punch and knockout.

But that was far from an impressive performance. He was getting outboxed badly and lost 5 of the first 6 rounds.........wasn't moving his head and wasn't cutting off the ring moreso following Gonzalez around.

kind of shades of vargas, he faught won. had some good fights go the distance. but when he stepped up they lost. thankfully it wasnt a tito beat down and only went 1 round.
they need to get him in the ring as soon as possible keep him active maybe a fight with an unranked figher to build seld esteem back up then a top guy and start earning another shot. no rematch for at least a year or 3 fights

                I'd certainly say so.

Because the supposed "arm punches" De Leon throws that knock people out didn't even phase him remotely. He's a tank.

He's dangerous because he's a good counter puncher and very durable Penalosa is. But I still say he's a bit limited, and I don't think he'd be able to repeat the kind of performance he had tonight in the future.

Maybe, we'll see. But I think he'd have some problems with someone like Mabuza who would give him punching angles.
