I know it does seem to happen to him often. I mean he was dominating Vasquez in there fight and was in complete control and then one left hook later Jhonny was a different fighter and got KO'ed. Same thing tonight he was dominating Gerry and one punch gave him a loss. There were talking about his trouble making the weight and it didn't seem to bother him, but that body shot did the trick.

That was a real sweet bodyshot. I felt happy for the old man. He put on a great effort because Jhonny was younger and had most of the advantages. Especially with that lankyass reach he got that kept Gerry off him most of the night. Jhonny also looked really big compared to Gerry yet he was only about 4lbs heavier which shouldn't be that noticeable. But Gerry is just so skillful and calm, it's great watching him fight like the veteran he is. He knew it would come eventually and just waited for that perfect opportunity to land it. I'm surprised how Jhonny went out for the count when he went through hell against Vasquez. Bodyshots really make you stay down regardless.

yeah he has so much skill, if he had power and was a better finisher he would be unbeatable.

Jhonny did have all the advantages and going into that last round I was thinking to myself how this was a horrible matchup for Penalosa with him being not very tall and JG being tall and lanky and a good boxer from the outside. I have to give Gerry respect he was getting beat pretty good, but he didn't give up stayed calm and when the opportunity came for him to make his move he did.

I was actually shocked Gerry won. Jhonny was in control beautifully, and height and arm length wise, I didn't think Gerry had much of a chance
