But that was far from an impressive performance. He was getting outboxed badly and lost 5 of the first 6 rounds.........wasn't moving his head and wasn't cutting off the ring moreso following Gonzalez around.
This is what exactly was happening in the Jhonny vs. Vasquez fight...then BOOM!! Gonzalez goes down and got KOed! Vasquez was getting schooled just as Gerry was losing most of the rounds. This Peñalosa KO was just as good as that Vasquez fight.

hey Vaquaz is young amexician nd in his prime and Penalosa is 35 year old pinoy who was about to retire...opps sorry

it funny that went a fighters school someone if they dont like him they say he is running and if they like him they would say 3 option : " he schooled him" " he boxed his ear off" " he taught him a boxing lesson."

Good point. It was a complete 180 of the way the fight was going, tho. I was starting to think that Gonzalez was going to pitch a shut out and I was just saying that when, BOOM, I saw the punch and I said "Oh, ****!" right before he took a knee. If he'd have gotten up, tho, he could've survived the last 15 seconds of the round and recovered in between rounds but it's hard to catch your breath in that situation.

I see you keep trying to talk about the same subject, Jhonny has allways been a boxer since day one but the diffrence here is that he's not over Defensive and makes it booring,he go's to WAR in spots.

that is his style and he got the power to KO his oppenet but imagine if you go like 5 classess above you orginal weightclass and you got a decent power in you weightclass than it hard to KO a person and if you tried it will make you go on the canvas. each one has his way of winning a fight. It maybe boring for you but sometimes you dont have to disrespect them you know what i mean

I know were your coming from, i been following boxing for some time now and i learned to appreciate the sweet science the only thing I got against some fighters is when the make allot of noice that they just kicked someone's ass when all they did was outpoint them For Example Margarito vs Wiliams or Old school fight Chavez vs Whitaker. The way i look at it , if your a slick defensive fighter atleast make it a little entertaining for the fans Just like Ali, Roy jones(back in the days) or Meldrick taylor They were good entertaining slick boxers that didnt put the audience to sleep.

perhaps one of the most saddest boxing moment for me was when gerry was robbed by a bicycling in joo choo in south korea nine years ago.

its just sweet tears flowing when i saw gerry turned back time and delivered that liver shot and reclaimed the glory that was his.

i can see that there are still some here who havent followed who gerry really is, because of his limited exposure to the world scene.

i never wouldve dreamed gerry wouldve put it on a more grandier stage at such an old age (for boxing) of 35.

here's to those saying that its just a lucky punch
