But I dun see how great someone can be if he had so many fights and hardly any were credible. Explain.
hes what? over 45 years old? you Still wouldnt get in that ring with him.

proves nothing. just sad how even the greatest of champions can have haters for having a great record.

doubt any of you here could accomplish that many fights.

Great reply Ryu89.... I was about to say the exact same thing. You guys like to trash boxers like the things they do are so easily done. Many of the so called bums they fought would have given you trouble. Everyone has an opinion just respect the guys fighting in the ring a little. For a time maybe JCC was a bit overrated when nearing the end of his career but before in his prime he was a fierce fighter that no one wanted to face. Just ask Hector Camacho Edwin Rosario, Greg Haugen, Tony Lopez or Roger Mayweather if he was overrated. He was the only fighter I have ever seen to hit someone in the body and have them spit up foam in rout to a body shot KO in the John Duplessis fight. He beat everyone he faced for years and that included when he had the title. It seems to the young boxing fan that he didn't accomplish much on paper but if you lived through those years you would know.

Otherwise he will take on a greater resemblance to his father with having many wins, all against cabbies, lacking better competition.
The thing is that allot these fools in here trying to downplay Chavez SR Probably Didnt even watch boxing back then and if they did Theirs no way they can remember who was who and all the fighters he had to fight to get to were he was all the contenders and prospects and you guys allready know how the Mexican people are Were not just going to Idolize any old fighter, Chavez Proved him self with so many wars And he never Avoided anybody its not his fault some of you fools wernt around to see his fights or didnt pay for the PPV's. As a matter of a fact Somebody tell me Who he could of fought to make his competition better?

Then whenever he stepped up to fight an elite fighter he got demolished by Oscar and Tszyu. Like I said, "overrated".
You are a ****en idiot! what was the age advantage for Delahoya ? by the way ODLH stepped up and fought Chavez not the other way around. JCC Chavez was way past his prime when he fought those guys anyways.

You call Delahoya an elite fighter when he lost to Sturm. If you are going to talk **** don't be biased.

It wasnt a "bogus" stoppage, if a fighter doesnt answer the referee, what do you expect to happen? It doesnt matter how much time was on the clock. Plain and simple.
you cant be serious that was a terrible stoppage.
Taylor didnt answer immideatly, but your supposed to have 10 seconds of recovery time, not 6.
If Taylor didnt answer at 6, you wait till 8, and ask him to respond again.

he beat the **** out of the guy from who you take your name, he showed macho Camacho he wasn't even in the same class. His losses were past his prime above his ideal weight. I'll admit I think Whitaker beat him and probably had his number but that does not negate the fact that he was a great fighter who has a lot of great victories. He also had a padded record but that was only because he was an old school fighter who fought a hell of a lot more often than most fighters and you can't fight elites all the time. look at the old school fighter's resumes and tell me if they didn't slip in some non-elite opposition when fighting 8 times in a year.

About JCC jr., he has great potential and looks better with every fight and I think he'll stop Gomez and contend for a title in early 2009.
