DLT, I am now firmly convinced that you are the most ignorant person on the planet today.
Rafael Marquez went down from that hook in the 6th because he was hurt from an accumulation of punishment that he had taken through the previous rounds.
Marquez was on stiff legs for most of the 4th round, rubbery legs for most of the 5th round, and was in desperate trouble in the 6th round.
It is not like Marquez was 100% and suddenly got rocked. He was getting progressively worse as the rounds wore on.
Marquez was in bad enough condition at the end of the 5th round that he walked to the wrong corner.
It is the job of the Referee to make the decisions that the fighter himself cannot make, and he did his job last night.
Rafael Marquez would have never quit, he would have kept throwing punches until he was beaten to death, and that could have been a very real possibility with the HARD shots that Vasquez was landing on him.Comment

nothing would ve changed the flow of the fight, the ref proabably svaed rafa from a beating that wouldve left him not as the same fighter....it was quick but i think it was better for marquez, when boxers are brutally koes, they tend to not take punches well after that...Comment

Marquez needs to learn to ****ing block and not allow 10 hard ass shots in a row to land flush on his faceComment

I cant believe what I'm seeing in this thread. That was a bull**** stoppage.
Also...Vasquez got dropped ok. That hook landed before the right. It wasnt a home run shot but just enough to put him down.
Guys can come back...Marquez wasnt that gone. Vasquez gets dropped then the next round the ref stops it...wtf.
This is the reason why we got ****ed up decisions in boxing.
Yeah, like those two KD's were the same. Zabby was flopping like a fish and Marquez was standing up still.Last edited by McNulty; 08-05-2007, 01:45 PM.Comment

First people complain about Floyd being "boring" and then when we get treated to a war, people complain. Boxing fans are never satisfied.Comment
