We always want to see a bloodbath go on...but it just didn't seem necessary for the ref in the moment...especially after seeing Marquez hurt bad, knocked down, hurt even worse...

even if a hurt fighter punches back, he is still getting punched himself...

Your remorseless if you think the fight should have kept going on. I was waiting for it to end after like the 5th round. These guys were taking huge amounts of punishment at the elite level. These weren't sloppy winging shots, these were perfectly executed power punches at the highest level. Someone could have been badly hurt if it went any further. To me, anybody that won wouldn't have mattered as long as it was stopped. Of course it's great Vasquez got the stoppage because he got his redemption. But we'll get to see another epic war in the 3rd fight. I just hope we have as good as a ref in that one.

It wasn't a BAD stoppage by any means.......but it could have gone on IMO.A bad stoppage was what happened to Manfredo over in Wales,Not that he would have a had a chance anyway but that was a Bad stoppage.Marquez was clearly very hurt and could have been hurt badly in the moments to come so as I said it wasn't a bad stoppage by any means.Slightly premature yes,Bad no.

Watch Marquez after the stoppage. He stumbles over to his corner while his cornerman holds him up. He was rubbery legs for two rounds. He was almost out right there. It wasnt a terrible stoppage, just not a good one.

A bad stoppage is the Chavez fight, where the guy was perfectly fine, and the ref stopped it after he took a punch that he rolled with anyway.

The stoppage was 50-50 I guess it was OK.. he also could have let things go on.. vasquaez was not connecting too much in those flurries and I am not so sure he could have kept it up much longer....

            Cracking fight either way ....

horrible stoppage. Marquez has shown already in this fight he is able to come back from huge shots. He wasnt taking unanswered punches. He actually threw a punch right before the fight was stopped. Great great fight either way. Vazquez has got some left hook

I think the stoppage was justified. As soon as Marquez wobbled against the ropes like that I knew it was gonna get stopped.

That's exactly what I saw as well. After that one left hook that wobbled Marquez pretty badly his legs weren't the same after that. It seemed all Vasquez had to do was land a combination of punches or another good left hook and Marquez was going down and that's what happened. The ref probably saw the same thing as well. I know it was anticlimatic because I think everybody that was watching wanted to see more of an exciting fight, but I feel it wasn't a bad decision by the ref. If you see right before the ref stops the fight, Marquez wobbles backwards and the look on his face was like he was out of it and that's what probably the ref saw and after a few punches by Vasquez he decided it was best the fight ended. I would have giving Marquez a few more seconds to respond, but I feel the decision by the ref wasn't horrible.

Marquez was OUT OF IT. There was no way he was gonna come back at all. The shots he was throwing were LESS then pitter patter.

And HELL YES that Left hook was big. And HELL YES it rocked Marquez. And then right after the knockdown, Vazquez landed 2 more massive Left hooks and thats when Marquez was BADLY hurt.

Anyway, THERES ONE REALLY EASY SOLUTION SO WE DONT GET THIS IN THE THIRD FIGHT!!!!! GET STEVE SMOGER AS THE REFEREE!!!!!

SMOGER my favorite referee and in big and important fights like that one, he lets the matter be fully decided before stepping in.
