Are you prepared to support Micky Ward for the Hall of Fame?

Micky Ward has THREE CONSECUTIVE Fights of the Year. That is about equal to Gatti's four over seven years.

Further, Micky Ward went twelve rounds with Zab Judah. Gatti has barely seen the middle rounds vs top competition.

So, it's debatable who has the better resume: Ward or Gatti. You can definitely give Gatti the edge in marketability.

Arturo Gatti deserves to be in the Hall of Fame because he has the heart of a lion and gave us so many great entertaining fights over the years. He helped keep the sport alive, because people who watched him would be so entertained they became boxing fans.

On the other hand, some boring defensive boxers have caused a decline in the sport's popularity.

Gatti gave you five or six exciting fights over a fifteen year career. Against mostly journeymen.

Gatti did not help keep the sport alive. Don't exaggerate. List the guys who were selling fights and Gatti's name is not on that list. Arturo did solid numbers on HBO based on strong regional interest from the Northeast. Period.

The boring defensive fighters? One of them just participated in a fight that broke all previous boxing records. And generated more interest than any fight of the past generation. True Story.

Okay, we might as well throw in tomato cans in the HOF, they have big hearts too. Gatti did bring attention of the sport, but other fighters do too and what if another boxer was also exciting to watch, only because he kept releasing sex videos butt ****ing other guys? It's equivalent as to what Gatti did.

Hey hey, we all make mistakes. It's human nature, let's not make that mistake again by putting Gatti into HOF. Actually, we should start putting really bad boxers into the HOF now.

They should really have a small section dedicated to fighters who contributed to the sport in ways other than their ability - that way Gatti would be a shoe in - the number of people who have got into boxing through Gatti-Ward alone must dwarf PBF's PPV sales.

The other section should be kept for the best boxers, and Gatti was a B- fighter on his very best day and C the rest of the time.

That is one of the big fallacies in the sport. Do you guys think that Gatti CHOSE not to make the five and ten million dollar paydays? That HBO decided to make LESS revenue by not putting his fights on PPV?

There are two principal reasons you put a fight on PPV:
                      1) No network has chosen to broadcast it (i.e, Margarito-Gomez or Cotto-Malignaggi)
                      or
                      2) You want to maximize the revenues (nearly every other fight).

Trust me. If Gatti was this hugely marketable and revenue-generating entity that you are portraying him to be, he would have been a PPV staple. The way they elected to milk the most out of Gatti was to keep him close to his fanbase in his "home stadium".

Remember, HBO makes its money off subscribers. Ya think that a bunch of people went out and got HBO to see Gatti fights? No. People subscribed to HBO because of the buzz off The Sopranos (for example).
