Well amongst friends of mine it is a common reason for getting into boxing - it is a different setup in the UK and PPVs don't matter as much.
I'd say that Hamed was the driving force behind boxing support in the UK after Eubank and Benn, then it all went a bit quiet. The Gatti Ward trilogy were the only fights outside the heavies that got repeat broadcast over here and understandably got peoples attention.
Things are a bit different around the globe - for instance DLH is pretty much unknown over here (he's better known now because of a game cover!)
