Gatti's fights transcend the sport, just as Braddock's come-back from career death transcended the sport. Statistics can't be your only basis for admittance. This ain't baseball.
Where are all the "Gatti for the Hall of Fame" people now?

LaMotta-Robinson
Schmeling-Louis
Frazier-Ali
etc...
That is the nature of this sport that we love. What was the in-ring performance? Who are the greats? Who pulled off a stunning upset?
OK. "Scrub" is too harsh a word to use about Gatti. Granted. But the man was never competitive with even a B-level fighter. Never beat a good fighter. And was beaten by fighters who will never be remembered.
His exciting fights were vs guys who are very mediocre. Four or five exciting fights against C-level competition are not enough for a ticket to Canastota, IMO.

i agree with you Jim Bradock won fight in a time of depression and he was representing the people. he was representing the hope that thing are going to be alright that is why he is so great.
seen the movie " The Cindrella Man" and you understand what type of person id Jim Bradock.
maybe Gatti represent similar to Jim Bradock in was the peopel sometimes in that fight though he was down and that he was going to lose and come back with a KO win.
As for Gatti he was exicting but there are many HOF that i never know about so why not Gatti. anyway look at how many FOTY Gatti made does this not mean anything.Comment
