      1) do you think Ali would not have got a shot to foreman otherwise? come on... maybe not in zaire, but that was in itself something that caused a 3rd world country to spend 10 Million Dollar, and god only knows what Mobutu police forces had to do to keep the foreigners safe (like the story of the prison in the stadium from "when we were kings")

      2) thrilla in manila was a way better fight imo

      3) ok so now say that i had to choose between thrilla and NOT seeing Ali with parkinson being beat up.

maybe I would pick thrilla but i would be disgusted with myself, the ibhof is not a boxing fan, it should have some ethical guidelines.

      4) Don King made plenty of money for those fights, even if he did not do all the wrong things he did to all those fighters. The money he made without getting hurt in any way should be enough no need for HoF.

Gatti's exciting fights we're againts mediocre opponents.

The way DLH and PBF massacred him is a big indication of his mediocre fighting skills.

In my opinion, a hall of fame should be a celebration of the sport. The inductees, however, should be the best practioners of that sport.
Gatti was amongst the best comeback kids. He could be all over the place and turn it around with a left hook and come back and win. That's what made him popular and that's why he should be a HOFer. Jim Bradock is in the HOF. Should he be in there? He was an extremely inconsistent fighter who lost to some really average opponents.

exactly it very hard to comeback for a devasting knockdown then standup to KO you opoenet that does happen much often

            I agree with you Squeally

              Well, who DID he beat?

With Gatti it was often a massive beating not just a devastating knockdown.

The only way Gatti is getting in the HOF is if he dies or he gets Parkinsons. Even though he doesn't deserve to be in it at all. Sorry, he just wasn't that good a boxer. He failed against top ranked boxers.

Yes, you are correct. Gatti had to come back against very mediocre fighters and needed dramatic heroics to beat them.

Is that really a basis for celebration? Is that what you wanna hang your hat on?
