Watch all 3 of Floyd's fights vs slick southpaws who were Corley, Zab, & Mitchell. He came forward non stop, walked them down, cut the ring off beautifuly, and landed at will. He stopped Mitchell, dropped Corley twice, and may have even stopped Zab if it wasnt for the low blow. Thats why I said he would walk down Sweet Pea because he is a lefty who isnt that big and doesnt have mad power. Now people only act like theyve only seen Floyd's last 2 fights. I can assure you that Floyd will not go backwards against him so if Sweet Pea does come forward then it would be toe to toe techniqal brillance but I see that everytime Sweet Pea does let his hands go then Floyd will pick off a ton of his punches and then counter with quick rights. Dont forget how fast Floyd's hands were at that weight either.

The thing I said about the pressure fighter not beating Sweet Pea is meant for guys like Chaves and those natural type guys who are slower. Its totally different when a guy who is just as fast and as techniqal as you can do it. Sweet Pea was the best at slipping punches but Floyd also doesnt waste any and is super accurtae. Sweet Pea has also been dropped before so if you time him right then you can definatly catch him off balance and no one has better timing then Floyd. It would be a brilliant fight that I wouldnt argue with if you picked Sweet Pea but I think you would be foolish not to argue that Floyd has a very good chance and probally more then nearly any other fighter in history and I think Floyd gets him
I thought you'd give Whitaker more respect than this. Throwing him in a boat with a shot Sharmba Mitchell (who was far from slick when Floyd fought him), a head case in Zab Judah (who really isn't great defensively) and an AVERAGE fighter in DeMarcus Corley is below your level of analysis. Come on now.

These guys would be fighting in the center of the ring, looking for opportunities to counter. Floyd isn't going to walk Whitaker down, Whitaker isn't going to back pedal all night because Floyd is walking him down, it just ain't happening like that.

Floyd would have trouble picking off Whitakers punches because they'd come from such odd angles. Whitaker went to the body well, he hurt big strong opponents with hard right hooks and lefts inside. Whitaker would win the inside fight because of his reflex and solid combination punching downstairs. Whitakers jab, left hand and right hand downstairs would be big trouble for Floyd.

i'd take whitaker over mayweather due to the fact that pernell took more risks and would be aggressive when he needed to. he never carried any fighters to the final bell that he had beat.

that and i think that with whitakers style he'd have floyd following him around the ring, instead of chasing floyd down.

it would probably be a real tactical fight but i think that pernell would out point mayweather in a razor thin decision...............

Pernell wasn't able to beat Oscar, so Mayweather! I already know however, to expect that whenever Floyd is matched up against an all-time great he won't get the benefit of the doubt, for a variety of ill-conceived reasons, but who cares? Yea, Styles make fights, Oscar got older, and both fights were close, but I still say Floyd! Floyd would of picked him off, trying to do all that low ducking n ****..

If the old saying..."It takes a Ninja to beat a Ninja" holds true...Pernill Whitaker takes this one over Floyd Mayweather. His Southpaw style would give Floyd fits. It took Floyd 6 rounds to figure out Zab Judah. Sweet Pea was the master of all elusive fighters, and took much bigger risks in mixing it up with heavy ****ers.

Floyd isnt a warrior.. he is a careful business man.. With so much skill that he must doubt because he doesnt want to fight the best.. I am not a floyd hater at all and thats the truth.. I just think he picks the best fights for him rather than prooving he is the best.. Only fight I give him props for was against Judah, and zab gave him all he could handle.. Im tired of trying to explain though... leave it at that. and yes floyd style suits me fine.. Its just the excuses me makes not to fight certain guys like mosley etc.. but then always finds a reason to fight the easier fight.. baldomir, gatti etc...

DLT, I dont know why you keep bringing up size. Pernell Whitaker is 5'6 with a 69" reach compared to Floyds 5'8 with a 72" reach.

Also, comparing Whitaker to Cory Spinks is just insulting and really shows how you view Whitakers fighting style.

                As for punching power,

Ok Sonofisis, I just did, again, on utube....I still saw Zab Judah ****ing Floyd on the corner ropes ALL THE WAY to the bell of the 5th round! It wasn't until round 6 that Floyd started doing damage. Floyd won, but I still feel Sweet Pea hands Floyd a defeat.

When I first started reading this post I was thinking man I hope somebody uploads the sweet pea highlight from you tube. Maybe this will shed some light on some people and they will stop saying some dumb ass ****. Sweet Pea was phenominal. Pernell by decision. End of story.

no question it would be pernell (prime) he has faced the better opponents of the two regardless if floyd continues for about 2 more years which he won't cuz he'll be bitching....whitaker has more speed and better footwork and of course a crafty southpaw...they don't make em' like that no more
