holmes had a very good jab but wasnt a big puncher and he was only around 209 lbs in his prime. the klits and lewis would have steam rolled him. too much strength and power. the holmes era was pathetically weak and he didnt beat anyone near there size skill and strength level
Larry Holmes would Destroy Vitali.Comment

In fact, I can't remember a time when people weren't bitching about the heavyweight division. They were saying the same **** back when Tyson was marching through the heavyweights, and then unified...."He wouldn't be able to do this back in the day, he'd be KO'd by (insert legendary heavyweight here) in the first minute of the fight".
Well, I thought it sounded silly then, and do now, too. In fact, this may be one of the least "****ty" divisions I remember. It's not the best, but certainly not what everyone is claiming. I think that, on any given day, there are at least a dozen fighters who could beat any one of the other dozen at the toss of a coin. The only one who's probably not going to get beaten any time soon is Wlad Klitchko (or his brother...I really don't think there's anyone alive who can KO that guy, and you can't beat him any other way), and there's almost always been a single ruling power in the divion. Foreman, Ali, Tyson, Lewis, etc.
The only thing that bothers me about the heayweight division is the lack of activity. Other than that, I like it just fine. Not as good as some of been, maybe, but not bad at all.
this post makes the most sense..we only remember the good fights and fighters from the past..every era has had a lot of sub par crapComment

as far as having a glass chin goes,,,wlad has never been counted out on his back and even 2 huge flush left hooks from brewster when he was exhausted didnt flatten him like 1 shot did krasniqui and golota. the ignorance and hating in this thread amazes me

Why can't this be a serious post? Did Holmes have the power, coordination, or technique that Wlad has? Honestly? He did not. Holmes is an all time great fighter, and Wlad is not that at this point, but in terms of boxing skill and raw physical attributes, there's no heresy in saying the current man is superior to the man from 25 years ago.Comment

Get real. Next you'll talking about how the moon landings were fake and the world is really flat.
