To be honest, its been pointed out, almost all of the press row had floyd ahead. He rematched him to erase any indication that he didint do enough to win the first fight. Thats what you do in a close fight, in order to erase doubt on either side about who won, you do it again and settle it once and for all.

They did, but the commentary teams and majority of fans saw it differently.

I think you have to assume that Floyd had a few doubts himself given the excuses that he came up with and the fact that he rematched him. He probably knew he'd made a mistake in the way that he approached the 1st fight and knew he could put it right 2nd time around.

Weather he doubted himself or not really is out of the question, he wanted to wipe away any thought that anyone might have beat him in a close fight and he did right be granting him the rematch because he frankly didint have to do that. He didint run back to 130, he didint vacate the belt, he knew people were doubting him so he went and gave the fans and some of the media what they wanted and he won the second fight with very few problems.

I dont think what he said were excuses because if hes saying he was injured the first fight, and it was close, the fact that he won the second fight with no problem says he might have been legit in his reasoning as to why in the later rounds he had so many problems. Not to mention, he was being massaged in the corner, which you ONLY see in the case of injury, and he was also wincing in pain, i dont think he was lying and if you have seen the fight then you know what im talking about.

The 2nd fight was close aswell. There wasn't the massive shift that you would expect if Floyd's claim of having a such a serious injury as a torn rotator cuff in the 1st fight was true. It was a 3 round swing on my cards.

If Floyd's claims of going into the fight with a torn rotator cuff were true you would have expected him to take some medical advice before the fight. That advice would have been that you never massage torn muscles. It looked more to me like he suffered a slight strain during the first couple of rounds. He would have been incapable of fighting as he did if the injury was as he said.

I dont remember him saying anything about a torn rotator cuff nor did i read anything in relation to that, i read he had a problem with his shoulder. If it was a torn rotator cuff he would have been out for at least 8 months to a year. Lacy suffered a torn rotator cuff and kept fighting (i dont know how lacy is a tough guy for that one), Vitali suffered it against byrd and quit. So i dont think floyd tore anything and i dont remember him claiming as such.

Has Floyd Mayweather ever defeated anyone rated at the time in the top 5 p4p?
yeah but he, like many boxers, was the flavor of the month.....he was getting stroked even tho really he hadn't fought much or beat anything since the judah dance (& the judah fight was more of a judah melt down than anything, he learned the hardway it aint over till it's over, regardless of how u look in the 1st rd, lol)
i really don't think beating tackie was all that impressive, & having a rough outing w/ an aging leija (who was winning early before suffering a broken ear drum).....sharmba was on a decline for a while & decided to try & slug w/ kt, even tho sharmba has no power really.....anyways, he was ranked number 3 (despite being stripped of his belt for not fighting top competition in 2 yrs or so......he even wanted a rematch w/ tackie?!before finaly being forced to fight sharmba again when sharmba beat tackie, whatever, lol).....anyways, point is that many of those p4p rankings is more of a popularity vote, & when he came back he was still popular

Have a read mate. I'm with you, it's a nasty injury. I did my AC joint and that was bad enough.
