Is Hatton Really a Better Fighter at 140 Than 147?

I really don't buy it. I think Hatton seems better at 140 because the competition is so weak. Guys like Maussa and Urango would be nobodies at welterweight, yet they were titleholders at 140. Luis Collazo is a fringe contender at welterweight, but he would proabably be top 3 at 140 if he could make the weight.

And how exactly could it be easier for a guy who balloons up to 190 lbs. between fights to have an easier time at 140 rather than 147? It should be more demanding of his body to shed those extra 7 pounds. The fact is Hatton is just a good fighter in arguably the worst division in all of boxing. At 147, and maybe even at 135 if he could make the weight, Hatton wouldn't even be a factor...

I think he's better at 140...Kostya was better than Collazo/Urango.
      Just my opinion, however.

Hes much better at 140 cause his strength is a big factor

He can bully opponents and rough them up.

At 147, the guys are stronger then him and his strength is less of a factor.

Either way its hard to tell if he's better or not. The drop in talent is too big to really tell. Perhaps its just that WW division is deeper and the top 10 guys are stronger better fighters p4p than the jrWW top 10. Or maybe Hatton is that dominant at jrWW.

          Tough call.

I kept saying this after the Callazo fight. I said that Hatton didnt struggle because the weight was too big of a differnce for him and he wasnt slower then normal like people tried to say. He struggled because he fought easily the best or 2nd best guy he's ever fought. No way Hatton can do those things at 147 like he did at 140 and it has nothing to do with him being a different fighter. It has to do with the division being loaded with studs and him not outweighing everyone but 40 pounds

Hatton definately belongs at 140. Can not make my mind up why, but at 147 he sucks. I seriously doubt that we will ever see Hatton at 147 again, but if he does make the move then he got a lot of work to do.

                    I co-sign that statement.
