Enough with the he avoided Darius bullcrap, he wouldn't go over seas to fight him, and DM refused to come to the U.S. to fight RJJ. I'd say DM would get a fairer shake in USA than Roy would over there easily. DM got some strange decisions against richard Hall and others. And to end that debate, the man RJJ beat the crap out of beat Darius so what does that say about how good he really was???
As far as resume's go, PBF's doesn't even come close to RJJ's right now. Count how many title holders RJJ beat, then count Floyd's number and get back to me. If you think RJJ fought crappy fighters, then Floyd's fought absolute garbage!!! They ALL looked like garbagemen and construction workers because Roy MADE them look like that, he destroyed guys that have been champions or gone on to be champions after he beat them. The guy barely even lost a round for years for god's sakes, Floyd sure as **** can't make the same claim now can he???????????
I'm a HUGE Gatti fan, but to use his name as a good fighter on Floyd's resume is funny. Floyd said it himself, Gatti is around a C level fighter, and if you think he was the best at 140 when Floyd dismantled him, then you don't know **** about boxing folks!Comment

I thought it was common knowledge that Roy Jones was predominately an unbelievable athlete and physical specimen - but a fighter who failed to root himself in the fundamentals of Boxing.
Floyd Mayweather has some of if not all the same physical capabilities, and also happens to be the best conditioned, best defended, and best technical operator in the sport.
Mayweather.
Not that I agree, nescessarily.. But if you want to stay within the lines....Comment

I don't think it's even close, as far as ability goes, Roy is the second best fighter of all time.Comment

Its not really a thread about who is better p4p. This thread is more of who had the better reign as teh P4P champion. As the title of the thread is "Who was/is Better P4P Champ PBF or RJJ".I thought it was common knowledge that Roy Jones was predominately an unbelievable athlete and physical specimen - but a fighter who failed to root himself in the fundamentals of Boxing.

I agree with you totally about RJJ being a superb athelete and the more talented fighter. PBF the far more refined and skilled fighter but not as talented (although he is very talented himself).Comment

Just a question here, but just because RJJ was a physical specimen and possessed ungodly speed and reflexes, why does that seem to discount the man as a great fighter exactly???
Sure, now as he has aged and lost some of that speed and those reflexes he's not Hopkins-like-great, BUT how many were like Hopkins?
Even the great SRR was a shell of himself after he turned 34 or 35, does that taint him then as well????
So Roy wasn't the most well-schooled fighter ever, so what! He relied on what he did possess, and was the greatest of our lifetime so far. Just because he was a freak of nature physically, that shouldn't count against the man as a great fighter. Maybe that's why some sure fire Hall Of fame guys like Hopkins, Hill, Toney, and McCallum were easily defeated by Roy, because they never saw anything like him and just didn't have the tools to deal with what Roy brought to the table!!!Comment
