Cotto's good, but Chavez had a better chin and punched better in combination. I don't think Cotto cuts off the ring as well as Chavez did either. Also, if you are going to compare Cotto to Chavez, then at least compare him to the 27yr old Chavez. Cotto is tough, but because of his somewhat suspect chin, he doesn't have the air of invincibility that Chavez had at 27 (JCC was steamrolling everyone at that age). Chavez was better IMO.

It's not just what he says in this thread about Cotto being better, but how he discredits Chavez by his DLH los when he SHOT, and calls him a bigger Yori Boy Campas. He's a total douche, and has said in other posts Duran would not stand a chance against Mosley because the fighters of that time were not nearly as good.

I'm not going to say that that post was ignorant, but it comes close. You must be fairly young, because you are not remembering Chavez in his late twenties. Cotto has good skills and is pretty smart in the ring, but I think he is beatable by a lot of guys. Chavez-Cotto probably would have been fought toe-to-toe for most of the night, and I would have bet the farm that Chavez's beard would have outlasted Cotto's. Also, Cotto's vaunted left hook to the body comes up second to Chavez's
