Mesi does posses skills make no mistake. He was a very good amatuer with solid experience behind him. The thing is that for a heavyweight he is just small with little power, comparitivly speaking.

I had a buddy fight him and I worked the corner for him. Mesi was on the comeback trail for this fight and if my boy had shown up in shape the fight could have been his.

Rip on Mesi all that you want, but the guy has done well for himself..............Rockin'

Little power? Out of his 35 wins 28 were by KO!

The fact that you're calling a 230+ pound fighter too small for the heavies shows just how much we need some extra heavy weight divisions, one of my pet peeves. And where does that leave a guy who weighs 201?

The guy was no taller than I was and I roll at jr. middle he is not big and is not even average size for a heavy. He is an extremely classy and super nice guy though.

I still contend however that Mesi is not a strong puncher, regardless of his ko record. Mesis ko's come from an accumulation of shots and good boxing skills, not raw power................Rockin'

not sure where your getting the impression of him being small. he's not a big heavyweight by any means but he is also isnt a small one either. he comes in around 230 lbs at 6'1 which is pretty much average these days for heavyweights. his problem is his chin and stamina. he has average to fair power and throws descent combinations with average hand speed

                Couple comments on Joe Mesi:

First, let me just give you guys a quick update; According to Mesi's website, Joe injured his back in training and as a result had to cancil his June 2 bout with Rafael Pedro. I hope this is just a minor set-back and Joe is able to return to the ring this summer.

Secondly, I've become awfully frustated with Mesi's 'lack of progress' in his pursuit to get ranked and eventually get a title shot. Since 2006, Joe has fought and won 6 bouts and has KO'd his last two opponents. The problem is, the level of opposition he's been facing is so weak, that fans and boxing analysts can't really gauge how good or bad he is.

And before his injury, his opponent Rafael Pedro, wasn't a big enough step up in competition to really get anyone excited.

My point is, Mesi has got to step up and fight someone who's a ranked contender or else he just wasting his talent. I think that Team Mesi is so concerned about preserving his undefeated record that they're afraid of taking a risky fight. And IMO, this ultimately hurts their fighter.

It time to step Joe, the hw division could use some excitement!...

Mesi's a fast fighter, has good stamina and head movement, and has a good punch; Briggs wouldn't last 6 rounds with Joe...
