"Taylor-Spinks Was Stinko De Mayo". He's right. Both of them looked harmless. There was one real star that night and that was Pavlik.

In the days of Bruno, Eubank, Benn and young Hamed it was astronomical with Bruno getting 10 million viewers on BBC, Benn AVERAGING 8 million for his first 43 fights (all on ITV), Eubank reaching peaks of 16 and 18 million (trust me, he recieved more attention than any person in Britain), and a young Hamed breaking into the 8 million mark in his first year on ITV.

Calzaghe will never be a massive hit with the public.... he is not exactly a promoters dream in terms of his personality.

Whenever he tries to play the part of the confident, swaggering champion, it usually seems forced.

the general public want to see heroes and villains in fights, which is why Benn and Eubank were massive...

Calzaghe is a top notch boxer, but he is never going to sell or be as well known as a Eubank or Benn who had very strong, media-friendly personalities.

Joe just seems like a nice guy who happens to be a world class boxer...he doesn`t have the big mouth to be super famous.

If tickets were really that much, why can't Warren afford to throw in another million? Why is DiBella turning down a piece of the gate? Seats cost about half of what they do here...

You're telling me Wright-Taylor, which was a successful event, could pay a combined $11 million to both fighters and not even sell out the arena yet Calzaghe-Taylor could get at least 35,000 fans in the UK and still not be enough to pay about the same for both fighters? Come on man, be serious...

Because DiBella wants the million for himself. He wants a guarantee, not what he thinks he might get.

Also, it should be known that DiBella has dropped this fight on Warren's lap. DiBella does not want to be the lead promoter of the fight and has not even touched on discussions of holding the fight here. Actually, he wants 6 million whether or not the fight is in the UK, and he wants Warren to lead either way.

Look, do you think more people will come watch this fight if it's in the UK than the number of people that showed up to watch Taylor-Wright? Seems pretty obvious that a bigger crowd will show up. So if the ticket prices are equal or higher and more people are going to show up, isn't getting a piece of the gate just as good, if not better, than a guaranteed $1 million? Assuming 35,000 people show and tickets are similarly priced compared to American venues, you are easily talking about a $15 million gate at least.

If ticket prices are comparable to American ticket prices, DiBella would not be asking for $1 million guaranteed. It makes absolutely no sense...

If the money was really out there for fights in the UK, like you seem to believe, more big fights would take place there and UK fighters would not try to establish themselves in the US...

that would mean $400 average seat cost. You wouldn't get that as an average in the UK. Maybe half that I'd reckon. still $7.5m though

I think fighters will go where the money is. Why should Taylor go to the UK to fight Calzaghe for $5-6 million when he can get the same money fighting in the States? This is why this fight is hard to make...
