That may be true, but how many claimed he was a "top American"? A lot of analysts may not have given Calzaghe his credit for being good and picked Lacy to beat him, but Lacy had done nothing to prove he was a "top" anything. That was my point. Brits wanted Lacy to be considered a top American so Calzaghe would get more credit when he beat Lacy. But in reality, Lacy just isn't that good.

So if in reality Lacy wasnt that good how come the Americans cant see that? Why does it take Joe to expose Lacy for y'all to see it. After Lacy beat Robin Reid it seemed to confirm to everyone that Lacy was indeed the real deal. And why cant so called American experts see that Joe is good? He had beaten a few Americans before Lacy. Do the experts actually think Joe is any good now, afterall, it was only Jeff Lacy he beat.Will they still underate Joe?

I don't hear anyone saying Joe isn't a good boxer. Its that he claims that he's beating all these great fighters when its obvious he hasn't. People got hyped up about Lacy that same way they're doing with Miranda. It happens. I can't speak for all Americans, but me and the guys I watch boxing with all could see that Lacy was not nearly as good as advertised. As for Robin Reid, I believe it was Brits who were saying he was a good fighter and was going to beat Lacy when they fought. Americans didn't really know a damn thing about him. So blame yourselves for that. You seem to be getting upset thinking that Joe isn't given credit for his boxing skills, but in reality he's just getting trashed for his belief that Manfredo, Lacy, and Sakio Bika somehow equals a great run of opponents. Hell, I'm American and I think Joe could give anybody from 160-175 a great fight. But why won't he step up?

Calzaghe is a good boxer, but an idiot if he thinks he's ever beaten a top American or top fighter from anywhere for that matter.

The Americans didnt consider Lacy a top American then, and it was only the brits and delusional people? I am not sure about that. But the bottom line is Americans still thought Lacy would beat Joe. Not all Americans obviously. But it just shows that even though Joe has accomplished a lot and beaten good people he was still underestimated.
Joe had been the established Super middle champ for a long time, so why wasnt he favourite?. Lacy wasnt a so called top American so why did so many Americans favour Lacy. And dont say most american boxing fans knew Lacy would be exposed as soon as he fought a talented boxer. You certainly didnt think Joe was the so called talented boxer to do the job on him though. Lacy did afterall kill Robin Reid who took Joe all the way.

All im trying to say is give Joe a bit of credit for being the one to expose Lacy, and in the future dont underestimate Joe too much. Because he is as brithish boxers go, a great.

Robin Reid took Joe Calzaghe all the way. Jeff Lacy schooled Robing Reid. So it is an easy equation and you dont need to be a mathematician, and this is why Jeff Lacy was being given respectand supposed to kill joe.
I understand why many had Jeff to beat Joe. But i wasnt one of them. I didnt buy the hype and i didnt underestimate Joe. I looked at Joes whole career and performances and not just the bad day at the office against Robin Reid.
