I could give a **** about a couple of pounds here and there. Fact is they've both fought through the same divisions.
Nobody claims Lalonde to be his finest hour so you really shouldn't get so hung up on it, and Lalonde was still closer to his natural weight than SRL. BTW, nobody forced him to take the fight on those terms.
"Let's fight an old welter at 168"??? WTF was Leonard then? LOL.
It's Ray's fault that Hearns gassed out, is it? I guess you spent a good part of the early 90s screaming for a Toney v Nunn rematch then. Pretty hard to rematch him with a detached retina anyway, don't you think? Or would you not have given him the luxury of an easy defense after the hardest fight of his life in the first place?
Hagler I'll admit was a bit of a ***** move and a smash and grab, but he didn't exactly go into the fight in ideal circumstances and he did say from the start that he was coming back for 1 fight only. You did know that, right?
He's hardly the 1st fighter to retire and comeback either, and it's not like he jumped in the ring with someone else 6 months down the line. And let's face it - it was ****ing Marvin Hagler, not JLC.
Who gives a **** what Duran says in an interview. He was one of my fave fighters but you don't get to call any shots if you quit.
