Hey Domain Chers mother is not Armenian at all. Please get your facts right. The only reason she does not admit she is half Armenian is because her father left them at a young age. Growing up, she never knew who he was. So therefore throughout her career she always said that she was native American.
As for Agassi, he is culturally assimilated. He doesn't even identify himself as an Armenian. You can say he is American with Armenian roots. As for his father, he is ashamed to mention he is Armenian as well. For some reason his father always thought that by Agassi mentioning he was Armenian, it would hurt his career.
but i bet he is more proud of his roots then Cher is....Cher tried to claim to be full blooded native america early in her carreer because of her look...but she has more armenian blood her father is full blooded and her mother is half armenian.
I bet you there are more mixed armenians out there who are famous but they are ashamed to admit it, only when there is more famous armenian they will pretend that they are proud..how do you feel is that a disrespect if a celeb started saying he or she is proud of being armenian only because they are becoming more famous?
its all politics bro...
whoever is proud is proud, and those that arn't **** them.
I will say this though, Cher visited Armenia recently with her mother and gave money to charity and all.
i guess this thread that started with recognition of The Armenian Genocide has become ALL THINGS ARMENIAN
so ya, Ill take any more questions regarding Armenia and Armenians lol
Never knew Cher or Agassi has some Armenians with them.
Do you know when did the first Armenians migrated to the US? When they first arrived in Glendale? And why they got attracted to Glendale?
hmm... good one.
id say the earlier ones came in the 40's 50's, mostly to Fresno and central cali, then 60's 70's moved down to Southern Cali.
Glendale was actually a predominantly white city and there were many plantations here and open land. Slowly one after another Armenians migrated here, but im not sure if there was a major reason for Glendale, it probably just happened that way.
right now, about 60% of Glendale's population is Armenian, and 3/5 of our city council members are Armenian as well.
whoever is proud is proud, and those that arn't **** them.

Hey bro, what do you think of Assyrians?(They fought with Armenians against Turks/Kurds in the great battle of Ayn Wardo, and ultimately won despite lack of ammunation. It was the heart of the brave men that fought together, that saved the children and women)

they are real cool peoples bro.
There are many many Armenians that we label as SuryaHay, meaning they came from Syria. I have some family friends myself. Fairly similar culture as ours.
