The Armenian Genocide was fully planned out by The Young Turks led by Talat Pasha, you need to dig into your own history.

At first, they rounded up all the scholars (Armenian doctors, lawyers, politicians, anyone with big influence on the community) after those poweful people were wiped away, the rest was easy. Guns were all collected by the government from the Armenians homes...

they were then marched out of their villages into the desert supposedly told they were being evacuated.

The hot desert marches were so long (leading to nowhere) that most Armenians died from dehydrations and starvation. Women were ****d, children killed, they were burned, lynched, beaten to death.

a few guys with hidden weapons in villages here and there tried to fight back (Like any man would do when their family was gonna get killed) These men of course were wiped out fast by the Turkish armies.
