well what i mean about lame is that, he comments based on his own believes at times, like i said i love larry......he sort of make you think after his final thoughts, i've been watching larry since maybe 91, 92around there not including espn's classic interviews back late 70's early 80's that;s a long timeSome of Merchants quotes are questionable but to call his quotes lame is ******ed.. the majority of people who do, are missing half a brain. Sure he is no Plato or Socrates when it comes to philosophy but he gives a different flavor to boxing comentary. I will miss Merchant, I'm sad he has to go...Last edited by niceguy45; 04-20-2007, 12:48 AM.Comment

Larry Merchant couldn't play it off well*no way he could hide his feelings about frank*. He ****ing straight up blew off frank warren from that interview. Basically giving frank the big **** you, and I have my su****ions that frank had something to do with larry leaving hbo. Frank looked mighty pissed of to me atleast.Comment

there always ******ed, something like...
Mayorga is one of the few boxers who can enjoy smoking a good cigar,... we'll see if he can smoke a good southpaw in Judah.
and his final words are just dumb.
You know Jim, I was at a deli the other day and a man came in and ordered what he called a "#5". he wasnt an abnormally big man, roughly average size. anyway as he waited for the sandwich I couldnt help but recal a fighter by the name off Nicholas Welsh. who fought back in the early 50's and is most know for his wars with Mickey Jones one in which they actually fought a 15 round draw IN THE RAIN ahha, maybe sometimes we might miss the finer points of the athlete, but tonight... Cotto was that sandwich,... JimComment

I've never been a big fan of Merchant mostly because of the way he disrespected the greatest middleweight of his era Bernard Hopkins but the guy called it like he seen it.Oh and the way he cut off Frank Warren after the Calzaghe-Manfredo fight was classic.I didn't always agree with what he said but the man is a legend and has great chemistry with Jim Lampley.I'll miss him.The man deserves to go out on his own terms not the HBO's terms.Comment
