which american boxers could sell out a crowd of 35'000+? Hatton and Calzaghe can do it not probs. Calzaghe sold 35k to fight a nobody in manfredo??? Benn - Eubank back in the day what was that, 50'000+. For elite world fighters who are british, why would they want to fight outside the UK? Fights in america do not have the same atmosphere unless there is a, say, mexican crowd involved. hatton-tsyzu, calzaghe-lacy etc, the atmosphere at these fights was amazing.

Why would calzaghe fight in america with 8'000 neutral fans when he could have 30'000 passionate fans. I just dont get it, at the end of the day its the people that you beat not where you beat them.

OK, how can Calzaghe draw 35,000 and still get paid only 2-3 million? The tickets must be dirt cheap. Jermain Taylor and Winky Wright made $9 million combined for their fight on regular HBO and they only drew about 10,000 fans but the tickets were very expensive...

Firsly, the truth is Calzaghe didn't draw 35,000 fans. 15,000 tickets were sold to residents of Bolton (ie Amir Khan) and there was a 15-fight undercard..

American TV puts up the money, Calzaghe's last two fights have been by far his biggest-ever paydays (by miles!), while in America casinos also put up the money, and then PPV money on top of that..

Mohammed Ali destoying Henry cooper....Twice, lol. ( i dont wanna hear about that Knockdown, Clay was pissing about too much, as soon as he got up he stopped cooper in the next round lol.)

              Tyson ending Bruno's Carrer.

Lennox Lewis got knocked out cold twice by Americans, lol.

Jeff Lacy ending Robin Reid's carrer (effectively)

Sugar Ray Beat the **** out of turpin in the re-match didnt he? (so sad how turpin took his own life, awful story)

              Works both ways.

Oh no doubt it works both ways but England challenges Americas best time after time and we are a small nation compared to America. Very small and the fact we can produce boxers time after time is something. And Henry cooper did manage to put the best heavy on the seat of his pants, and Henry Cooper aint exactly britains greatest ever heavyweight.

The US used to hold all the big fights because it could generate the biggest purses and fighters had to go there to make a living in the sport.

Now that is untrue. Partly because large parts of the rest of the world are perfectly capable of supporting big fights and big fighters and partly because of the fact that the US Dollar holds about the same value as toilet paper these days.

You see bigger heavyweight contests in Germany than in the US these days. If you had said that to anyone 10 years ago they'd have laughed in your face.

Thats because no one in America would waste their money on those fights.
