I was looking at the list of Hopkins opponents and there are some good fighters that weren't talked about that were solid & would beat alot of the contenders & Middleweight champs now. John David Jackson was a good underated fighter who would be champ now it he were fighting as a Middle. Keith Holmes was also an underated champion & is a tall southpaw that would give alot of fighters fits. Carl Daniels was actually a solid fighter when Hopkins fought him but was never the same after Hopkins stopped him. Actually all the fighters I mentioned are southpaws come to think about it.

That's a good point, if you factor in convincgness of wins as well as quality of opponent, it has to go to Calzaghe. But still the edge in competition goes to Hopkins.

Even though it's obvious that it is easier to win impressively against inferior opposition. Calzaghe has never handled a great fighter the way Hopkins destroyed Trinidad...

hopkins, hands down. the best guys calzone faced were eubank (a showman) and lacy (a one-dimensional puncher).

at least two of hopkins' opponents are bound for the HoF (dlh and tito), not to mention hes also the only person to stop dlh, tito, and glen johnson.

calzone's title "reign" has been a joke.

Eubank was much more than a showman, he was extremely talented and would have had a definate chance at beating hopkins at 160 (when eubank was at his prime)

Yes, Hopkins resume is better, but not by far at all

                Willam Joppy twice?

                Robert Allen 3 times?

                Howard Eastman?

                Fritz Vanderpool?

and mentioning his wins over tito and del la hoya only strengthen the arguement that hopkins was a light heavyweight picking on Junior Middleweight fighters.

And that 'KO' of de la hoya stank of a dive, although who knows?
