I agree with the commentators on this one.

Yes it was an awful stoppage. A title fight like this, you have to give the other guy a chance. Lacy was getting pounded on far worse and it went 12.

On the other hand, even though the stoppage stunk, Manfredo was going to get stopped eventually, he was totally outclassed and couldn't do anything once Calzaghe turned it on strong.

It saved Manfredo. Manfredo would of ended up being stopped at the most a few rounds later but in a worse state

Many of the shots were getting through though, you could tell because his head was snapping back. You people are all just haters.

no ****, but that doesn't warrant that terrible stoppage. if this was the case then why didn't the ref stop it on the first punch calzaghe landed.

it was a discredit to calzaghe too...he should have been given the chance to get him out of there like a real fighter.

just a waste of everyones time. manfredo was not hurt and was trying to avoid punches...he just wasn't punching back. those half hearted punches wouldn't have stopped a flyweight.

Yes it was a pre-mature stoppage but calzaghe was just going to beat up on Manfredo anyway.

The difference in class was apparent after the first two rounds and then Joe started to turn it on in the 3rd.

If the fight went on then it would surely have finished in the 4th or 5th, imo.

Yeh. Stoppage maybe a bit premature but he would have lost.

A TERRIBLE STOPPAGE!!!! THAT WAS AWFUL!!! what the hell!!!!

                      That was basically pitter patter.

This is a once in a life time oppurtunity for Manfredo. You let him try and survive the onslaught. He wasnt hurt.

You give the guy a chance.

That ref made the worst stoppage ive ever seen in an HBO main event.

                      Manfredo was fine.

It's not to say that he would have survived the fight, or even survived the round, but that stoppage was incredibly premature
