      Manfredo Stoppage..

Horrible decision out of the UK.

TO END THE FIGHT ON PITTY PATS!?

And I cant believe how little faith the announcers had for Manfredo. Peter didnt even really get a chance to adjust.

"Should expect that in whales if you come to fight Joe calzaghe" - Jim Lampley

THATS F@#$ING BULL****! Peter deserved more than that..

I don't think Manfredo deserved any better. He didn't come to fight, did he?

Stoppage was a joke though, an extra round of Calzaghe skills would have been fun.

manfredo was slippin punches pretty easily just wasnt throwing anything...another round, he would have probably tried to take different chances.

You can't be serious? He may not have been getting hit all that much but he was getting jabbed and was hitting nothing but thin air.

This was a mismatch and you could tell it was from the first 10 seconds, Manfredo gave Calzaghe exposure, nothing more.

I thought the stoppage was one of the worst I've seen. Manfredo wasn't even stunned and those were the worst shoe shine punches I've ever seen. I'm not saying Manfredo would have won the fight because he would have had to ko Calzaghe. The Hbo crew except for Lampley were super chearleading Calzaghe and claiming Manfredo would have been knocked out anyway. How can they say that when Manfredo was never hurt once. This fight had UD written on it all the way and I totally agree'd with Manfredo's comments after the fight and I wanted Calzaghe to ko him. That was just bull****. Let fighter's fight for god sake!

I agree that that was one of the worst stoppages I've ever seen. Fight should've went ont.

However, it was a clear mismatch, and I don't think it was wrong to say that Manfredo would've been stopped..... EVENTUALLY.

the stoppage was premature but manfredo was getting owned by a fighter who was a class above.

a ref like this may have been a good thing in the lacy fight

At 35 if you need exposure as the RING champion, and you need bull**** fights like this to get exposure then something isnt right. This fight didint help Calzhage at all in the american public and i can garuntee you he didint win any new fans with this circus of a ****in fight. The only thing people are gonna hope for now is him getting beatdown here in the states and thats about it. Unless you were a fan before that fight, im honestly unhappy i woke up out of a dead sleep before work to watch this fight.

If you wanna show off your skills, you have to do it against fighters who actually match up against you, not constantly try to "win over": the american public with bums or guys you know have no chance against you. Hes ****ing 35 years old, i can understand Kahn, Taylor in his early career, Berto etc taking these fights, but come on, this fight is bull**** and you all know it.

even if manfredo was going too lose, the ref shouldn't stop the fighting. that's what boxings all about, it's never over even if the opponent is much better, you always have a chance. And manfredo was training for this fight and it's disrespectuff that they take away so easely his shot at a title.
but joe calzaghe has done a great job, a shame he couldn't show more because of that poor stoppage
