Floyd Mayweather ATG skills?

So Hagler kills himself to get to 154, and Floyd eats a buffalo to get up to 154. Sounds like the best of both guys in this fight!
I'm not angry at you, just whoever put Hagler in the first place... goodness, use your head before typing.Comment

I agree that Mayweather would have had problems with a younger Casamayor. El Cepillo matches up well with PBF on so many levels.
But what about Freitas makes you think that he would be a tough challenge? PoPo has less skill, less heart, less speed, etc, etc.Comment

Think about it: you had to go to ATG's to find better. What does that tell you?I am talking about an overall talent level. When you say a guy has skills in the gym it means he usually has a great jab, good combination puncher, can hit and not get hit, good footwork, can cut off the ring. Floyd has great skills but the overall packages that were Whitaker, Toney, Duran were much better, IMO.
Maybe he is on their level... or maybe he is a notch below. Is there shame in being a notch below Pernell and Duran?Comment

Hell I would be honored just to be in the same breath with these greats.Comment

Floyd ducked Casamayor and Freitas at 130. Most people do not remember this because he was not a big name at that time but he would not even mention any of there names in Interviews. Not once. He is extremely selective with his opponents - much like Roy Jones which is why he fought guys like N'Dou, Bruseles, Mitchell.
Anyone also rememember when he walked away from a deal with Casamayor for 3.7 million and instead fought Sharmba Mitchell.
I am questioning his greatness because he has fought limited opposition. How great would Michael Jordan have been if he had played the Clippers every game. It took other great players to bring out the best in MJ and it is the same way with PBF, but since he and the RJ's of the world manage to get to selective, their stock goes down and people like ME start to criticize.
And please never compare Gatti to Duran. Gatti is a punching bag. Duran is a top 5 fighter all-time. No questions asked.
Right after Diego Corrales Floyd SAID IN AN INTERVIEW he wanted to fight Naseem Hamed (who he practicly begged to move up in weight) Casamayor and Frietas, you have a pretty lame smear campaign.Comment

Casamayor - Lightweight (135)
Mitchell - Welterweight (147)
Mitchell was a warmup for Judah, who ****ed everything up by losing to Baldomir. When Mayweather fought Baldomir, he got $10 million.
Question: Did Floyd make more money by turning down the original $3.7 million?Comment

I am sick of this talk of Floyd Mayweather's skills. People talk like he has the greatest skills of all time....his skills are nowhere near Pernell Whitaker's. Mayweather could of fought Freitas and Casamayor who are interesting style matchups but he never chose too. Whitaker fought the much better opposition and he challenged himself even at the lighter weights. Guys like Ramirez, Haugen, Chavez, Mcgirt - All bigger guys and Whitaker handled them easy.
I really dont see what all the fuss is about in terms of Floyd's skills? I truly believe people rate his skills high because of that ****** shoulder roll. Or maybe it is because of his speed as compared to most fighters. Guys like Duran and Toney weren't great speedsters but they had much more skills like head feints, foot feints, inside upperbody movement. The media and Floyd's PR have really blown that shoulder roll out of proportion.
Fighter's like Whitaker were certainly much more skillful. Duran had more skills. Look at his masterful performances against De Jesus, Leonard, Barkley, hell even that up and comer Davey Moore he beat up pretty good...and that guy was a solid, solid fighter. Toney has better skills...look at the job he did to Barkley. Tszyu had great skills - maybe not on Floyd's level but he is near.
Agree?Disagree?
spoken like a man who has no idea what he's talking about...
jk jk... well sorta jk... mostly not jk though...Comment
