not to mention benitez, arguello, pryor, jcc and whitaker. Just to look back over the past 25 years or so. Surely there were many earlier fighters who would also have dismantled the undoubtedly skilled but relatively untested mayweather.

      ATG is thrown about alot.

Its not about skills on display, but skills + acheivements + level of opposition + quality of performance....etc.

PBF could have potentially beatn alot of great fighters....but he hasnt!
He is in a position where he could clean up, by fighting ALL the big names around. Yet he is choosing to shout his mouth off and retire.

That is NOT a quality of a ATG.

i understand you think that, but the point i was trying to make to another poster was that he provided no reasons as to why, just they would beat him, that's all, and you just did the same thing. posting that you think duran, leonard, and hearns would beat floyd is all fine and dandy if that's what you think, but not backing your opinion and then trying to argue a point is just foolish don't you agree. i'm not calling you foolish, but i was just making a point.

Whitaker fought the much better opposition and he challenged himself even at the lighter weights. Guys like Ramirez, Haugen, Chavez, Mcgirt - All bigger guys and Whitaker handled them easy.

I really dont see what all the fuss is about in terms of Floyd's skills? I truly believe people rate his skills high because of that ****** shoulder roll. Or maybe it is because of his speed as compared to most fighters. Guys like Duran and Toney weren't great speedsters but they had much more skills like head feints, foot feints, inside upperbody movement. The media and Floyd's PR have really blown that shoulder roll out of proportion.

Fighter's like Whitaker were certainly much more skillful. Duran had more skills. Look at his masterful performances against De Jesus, Leonard, Barkley, hell even that up and comer Davey Moore he beat up pretty good...and that guy was a solid, solid fighter. Toney has better skills...look at the job he did to Barkley. Tszyu had great skills - maybe not on Floyd's level but he is near.

            Agree?Disagree?
frietas, casamayor, prince naseem, etc didnt wanna fight floyd
it would of been too risky for them
after he destroyed corrales, they didnt want no part of him

as far as skills yeah he as atg skills
you're gonna have those skills when you've been born and raised to box
he's been boxing since birth so of couse he is gonna develop certain skills

I'm not going to give reasons why Floyd could beat every one of the guys you listed, but I did want to ask a question that leapt out at me when I read your post.

Why do you not think Floyd could beat JCC?

Meldrick Taylor's combinations and handspeed gave JCC fits, and Whitaker's defensive movement while throwing shots gave Chavez a lot of trouble too.

Those are the two ways I have seen Mayweather fight, like Taylor did in the first Chavez fight, and like Whitaker did.

So how is it that Chavez beats Mayweather again?

                yes floyd has marvelous skills.

he needs to add to his resume to truly be recognized as an atg by all.

floyd definitely has ATG skills. i mean its blatantly obvious. when you HANDILY beat everyone put in front of you for the exception of the 1st castillo fight, then hell yeah, your skills are ATG.

floyd handled and humbled hernandez, corrales, castillo, odlh, gatti, chavez, judah and baldomir.

the more i write, the dumber this thread becomes. i personally REALLY dislike mayweather, but theres no question about his fight game, the guys an ATG and you all will all come to accept it over time.

Haha, at least he didn't say Hagler like the genius on the page before.

Marvin Hagler beats Floyd Mayweather in what weight class again?

You might as well say Ken Norton beats Floyd Mayweather Jr. if you say Hagler.
