Just cut the bull****. It doesn't matter whether U.S. is a superpower in the sports or not . . . the fact is . . . Joe simply doesn't have the balls to fight out of his comfort zone.

As for big Joe, he achieved his lifetime dream when he beat Eubank and ever since then he's been fighting for money (albeit not very much money) and trying to get a fight with Roy Jones, and then Bernard Hopkins, and then a light-heavy title shot. Lacy was a God-send.Comment

personally i don't care if calzaghe fights kessler, because i find that kessler is a very good boxer but i also think that he's not very exiting. i would prefer him too fight jermain taylor, edison miranda or maybe moove too light heavy weightComment

There is a lot of speculation, very true, but Fighters like to hide behind their Promoters. How many times have you heard, "Talk to my Promoter", "I have to talk to my Promoter", "I WILL FIGHT WHO MY PROMOTER TELLS ME TO FIGHT".
Promoters work for Fighters, Fighters either need to remember that, or they are making you believe they don't have control, "it is the Promoter."
People like Floyd are great: He will usually let his business be known. When he couldn't make a fight with Hatton, he told the story. You found out who called who, and how much money was talked about. Of course this is only Floyd's side, but Hatton's team has responded to Floyd's talk in the media, and it didn't look good. Even in interviews I have seen Hatton on (ESPN) he seemed shaky (which is rare for him) when discussing Floyd and the talk of money/contract/fight.
HBO would die for a fightt between Floyd and Hatton.
Why do people think Floyd is so hard to deal with when involving a fight?
He has made a fight with Gatti, Judah, Baldomir, and now Oscar. If Floyd was so hard to deal with, how come the contracts in all these fights seemed very fair for both sides?
Does he come off as an arrogant ass? Yes, but so what. He is at least trying to make fights happen.
I am not saying Floyd hasn't dodged anybody, I am not sure, but fighting who he has fought is better than fighting Urango and Castillo (at this point in his career).Last edited by Benny Leonard; 02-26-2007, 10:11 AM.Comment

Back when Roy Jones was hand-picking his opponents, much like Calzaghe is doing, fans in this country were very critical of him.In fact many fans and writers called for a 'RoyCott' of his fights.
As long as Calzghe can sell out a stadium fighting a guy whose claim to fame is that he lost a tv show....then you get what you deserve.
A local/paper champion...so you folks over in the U.K.,enjoy your 'champion'.Comment
