i would like to see for comments of more amigos here regarding the montiel-gorres fight, i know i will see a lot of biased opinions from both side but i know i can also see honest to goodness opinions ...
My Honest opinion is that Gorres did good and it was a close fight but did he do enough to take Montiels belt? I dont think so especially with them point deductions. If you think about it Montiel won the last 3 rounds for sure and then the two points deductions puts montiel up 5 points alone with them 3 rounds.

Gorres fought that way till he got rocked in the tenth and held on for life but got deducted a point. He did well in the 11th and in the 12th I don't know why the ref took another point away. More Pinoys thought Jaca and Suico would lose than win before the fight. Those that thought he would win were just dreaming they knew what was up.

Those point deductions were controversial though. If the ref took away a point in the 10th, I was borderline on that because clinching for life always happens in boxing and this is the first time ever I saw a point taken away for that. Reason I was borderline is cuz Gorres would have gone down if he did not hold on but he was able to save himself. The one in the 12th had no merit what so ever and just made me su****ious that a robbery was in the works and I was right. I knew that Caiz was for sure going to score it for Montiel but not as lopsided as he did. I thought the other two judges would have it for Gorres.

have looked around at other boxing websites and only found only 1 with their scorecard. That site had it 114-112 for Gorres.

I do agree with some posters that Montiel landed the stronger punches but Gorres landed more punches. In the earlier rounds, Montiel was not doing enough and Gorres was doing more and landing more shots. In the middle rounds, Montiel did more but Gorres landed more. Only in the last 3 rounds that Montiel was more active than the first 9 rounds.

It's clear that Montiel has a worried look and getting desperate in the middle rounds because Gorrez continues to sneak in punches into his face.

It was only after Gorrez was hurt that Montiel was able to play his game plan.

A rematch should settle this issue once and for all.

Montiel has already said he don't want no more of z. He is not to keen on a rematch. Would love for it to happen though. He stole a victory so he should at least grant z one.
