    So he didnt get tested so there is no proof.No disrespect but just stop your whinning montiel won and thats it it was a close decision that couldve went either way and it went to the champ whinning about it is not gonna change anything,pinoys are the onlyones that think he got robbed i asked to bring me a legit unbiased article and you guys failed the website that scored it for gorres was ring talk and the guy who scored it that way is reylan lobertemos a pinoy writer.So until you guys bring me a article i am done with this thread,and montiel won so deal with it.Peace!And what the hell is that on my avatar who the hell put that can you guys tell me howthe **** did that ge there?

        it was a close... and I think Gorres has it by 2 points...

        that ref really sux... how come he deduct Gorres for clinching? when he is not the same level as Hatton and Ruiz who hugs every 20 seconds..

        the bad thing is he was deducted without being warned...

          I understand bro i would probaly would feel the same way but think about it if the ref wouldnt have deducted the point in the 10 there is good chance he wouldve gotten knocked down but any ways i hope there is a rematch to settle it.Do you guys know how did that get in my avatar?(i got a small ****)i dint put it there.

If you think about it Montiel won the last 3 rounds for sure and then the two points deductions puts montiel up 5 points alone with them 3 rounds.

              I was able to obtain a copy of this highly anticipated WBO Super Flyweight Title that took place in Cebu, Philippines late last week. Mexican world champion Fernando "Cochulito" Montiel would put his WBO Super Flyweight title on the line against home town hero Z “The Dream” Gorres in a twelve round contest.




              March 1, 2007

              Round 1

              Both fighters look to establish the jab early. With Gorres being a southpaw and Montiel orthodox, both fighter jockey to secure foot position through out the round. Both fighters are tentative as they posture looking to figure the other out. Gorres appeared to have a slight edge in activity.

              Gorres 10-9



              Round 2

              Gorres starts out quickly with well timed one-twos that land crisply. A bad headbutt in the first minute pauses the action. Gorres begins to land the straight left with more frequency, a very sharp punch. Montiel looks to assert his strength but Gorres shows very good footwork in getting in and out to land his shots.

              Round 3

              Slow first minute until Montiel starts throwing a right hand lead. The second one he throws lands hard and Gorres is rocked back. He recovers well and the action picks up. This gives Montiel an edge as he is in closer to land his punches. Z goes back to his jab and looks to establish the distance again. Montiel is effectively getting closer to Gorres and in turn is having more success.

              Round 4

              Gorres begins round four displaying his hand speed. In the first half of the round his is fighting more economically and making Montiel miss. In the final minute Gorres throws a nice combination flowed by a stiff right from Montiel. Gorres responds with another barrage that shows Montiel momentarily. No doubt Montiel is the bigger puncher but once again this round sees Gorres negate that with superior activity.

              Round 5

              Montiel comes out with more urgency to begin the fifth round but lands very little. Gorres is les effective when fighting going backwards. Again Montiel sees better success when he is in close to Gorres. In the final minute Gorres back pedals and offers very little as Montiel stalks him. Uneventful round goes to Montiel.

              Round 6

              Gorres begins by staying relatively stationary in the center of the ring allowing Montiel better success as he stays in close. In the middle of the round Gorres finds some success using his long reach to get his shots in. In the final minute Gorres controls the center of the ring and seems to have Montiel moving back. Close round goes to Gorres for controlling the geography and being slightly busier.

              Round 7

              Again Z positions himself in the center of the ring and has Montiel rotating around him. At the end of the first minute Montiel gets some good punches in sequence. Gorres regroups and gets some of his own shots in close. Again as they stand near to each other Montiel’s strength gives him an edge. Montiel begins some good work to the body when in close. In the final minute Montiel gets in close and continues with good work to the body. Z fights back gallantly but the edge goes to Montiel for his body work while on the inside.

              Round 8

              Gorres begins the round with an excellent straight left. He looks to establish distance using the long jab and gets a brilliant one-two in. Another brilliant straight left for Z. Much better in and out movement from Gorres frustrates Montiel half way through the round. In the final minute Montiel gets in his first good shots of the round to the body. Z comes back with good crisp shots to the head. Good round for Gorres.

              Round 9

              Gorres starts out the round once again controlling the distance. Montiel increases his pressure a minute in and Gorres counters with a good combonation. A good left from Gorres is met with a good body shot from Montiel. With a minute left in the round Gorres looks the flashier fighter as he gets in a series of long straight shots. Montiel responds, but doesn’t do enough.

              Round 10

              Montiel starts out with more urgency and gets closer to Gorres. Gorres responds with good jabs and straight lefts. Mid way through the round Montiel gets inside and works well to the head and body. He catches Gorres and hurts him. Gorres desperately hangs on and they both fall to the canvass. The referee takes a point away immediately in a very suspect move. Gorres gets up and Montiel jumps on him. With weak legs Gorres back peddles and looks to survive the round. Good round for Montiel, with a very curious point deducted by the referee.

              Round 11

              Gorres looks regrouped to start out round eleven, but Montiel knows the urgency. Montiel’s left eye is closing as Gorres continues pumping his jab. Mid way through the round Gorres ****s Montiel along the ropes and is landing the crisper shots. He seems to know he lost the last round big and is looking to make up for it. A straight left rocks Montiel who moves back with his hands down. In the final minute Montiel moves in desperate to pick up the action. Too little too late in a good round for Gorres. A great display of heart considering how hurt he was the round before.

              Round 12

              Fighters touch gloves to start out in a display of class and respect. Gorres looks very sharp as the crowd eggs him on. Montiel looks tired, and moves in seeming to sense he’s behind on the cards. Gorres has good bounce in his step as he circles away and pops the jab. Good body shot from Montiel at the mid way point. A desperate Montiel gets very sloppy and both fighters wing away awkwardly. Another point is taken away from Gorres in a disgracefull call by the referee. Very poor call. Montiel throws for the fences and Z engages and stands in close trading with him. Gorres seems to have more left in the tanks and seems to do the better work on the inside pushing Montiel back. Bell rings ending the fight. I had Gorres winning the final round but it gets scored even due to the referees suspect point deduction.

              Round is even 9-9

              The official result was a split decision win for Montiel. Judge Raul Caiz had it 115-111 for Montiel, Chuck Giampa 114-112 Montiel, and Denny Nelson 115-111 for Gorres.

              The hot button topic in this fight was the point deductions, both which were atrocious calls by referee Sammy Viruet. Point deductions for holding are genuinely reserved for clinch filled contests, when several warnings are issued. I can’t say I saw a warning to Gorres prior to the first deduction in the 10th round (although it’s possible he did get one) but the point is that he did not deserve one in any way shape or form.

              The fight was a good one, and relatively clinch free. If points were deducted in this fight, disqualifications would be in order in 3 of 5 fights I watch by that standard. God forbid Viruet ever referee a John Ruiz fight.

              One point I’d like to make is that a 10-8 round for Montiel in the tenth is not without merit, as Gorres was hanging on to Montiel because he was hurt, and then they both fell. While Viruet erroneously took a point away for holding at that time, there could have been cause to rule it a knock down, as Z was hurt and his tumbling forward is what took Montiel down with him.

              With that said, the point deduction in the 12th was a disgrace, and really should be subject to some kind of review. There was mild clinching going on, but it was not even clear who was holding who. A very suspect series of events on referee Sammy Viruet’s part that effectively cost Z Gorres a majority decision win with the outcome of the final scores tendered by the judges.

              At the end of the day this was a fairly easy fight to score for Gorres, and without the confusion added by Viruet, it’s difficult to fathom how Raul Caiz managed to have Montiel winning seven rounds.

              Gorres has no shame in walking away from this fight with a hollow loss on his record. Montiel fought a good fight but he did not do enough. A rematch would really be the most fitting result to all of this, as both fighters showed more class in the ring than the decisions out of their control did in staining an otherwise good fight.

                  Z gorres should just go back to sleep ZZZZZZZ he is a very boring fighter...no talent and not intelligence.....everyone had Montiel winning the fight..remember this was in the philipines.....in gorres hometown ....the audience didn't even booed the decision because most of them had gone to sleep from watching gorres throw his pillow punches....

                    Unfortunatly what that article states doesnt matter what matter is what the judges tohghut and they saw montiel winning.All the other websites that i have visited do not mention arobbery,so just get over it montiel won wether you like it or not.
