this buyout would make peter the richest nigerian in the world (not counting the select few who **** their people for oil money)
Samuel Peter Won't Step Aside For Klitschko-Maskaev To Take Place, Not For $2.5 Million

There you go, now they've got the answer they needed.
I'll say fair enough, especially the time deadline for Peter to fight the winner. If Vitali and his group doesn't have anything nasty in their minds that's should be acceptable. I'm all for Peter stepping aside to give Vitali the crack at the title but I don't want Peter being screwed later on. Duva is the man.
And read this:
This is all lies. Vitali was given a "Champion Emeritus" status last year, 2006 in the WBC Convention NOT prior to him retiring in 2005. Is this an honest mistake or what? Trying to intentionally misled readers?Prior to retiring late in 2005 due to injuries, the WBC crowned Klitschko as their 'Champion Emeritus' and promised him an immediate title shot if he ever decided to come out of retirement to resume his career.Comment

Gotta say that while I'd like to see Vitali pound Maskaev while Peter picks up an easy payday, I can't hate on my man for sticking to his guns and going for that title shot he deserves.Comment

When I first read the title of the thread I was like, Yes!!! Peter wont step aside to the "politicians". I said finally, one taking a stand and fighting the fight that hes supposed to regardless of what they throw into his pocket. Then I read 2.5 million...... well it felt great for at least a little bit. Where have all the cowboys gone?

**** Rockin' you're right. I skimmed the article. He just wants more money. Not at all as impressive as it would have been if he just said "**** no, I can't be bribed, that title is mine".Comment
-
I think he wants a more concrete date as to when he'll fight the winner and when Klitschko/Maskaev would take place. He would be mocking everybody if he asked for more money than that.Comment
-
Yes, but he is getting $2.5mil for not fighting Maskaev, which is more than he would get for actually fighting him. And if the winner of Maskaev/Klitschko retires, WBC will either declare Peter the champion, or he will be fighting for a vacant title. Either way you look at it, Peter is turning down a very good offer.
Maybe Peter wants to actually win the belt and not just be handed the belt. It just shows you that Peter wants to be a true champ and not just looking for the money.Comment

No it was the 2005 convention, both of you are wrong. They announced it a week or two AFTER he retired, and crowned him on Dec 20 at the convention. There you go, now they've got the answer they needed.

How this all brings those thoughts to my head again, what I would do with the game. I can never remember a "handing of a belt." How in the **** are you supposed to be taken seriously if you are just handed a belt. Look at what this is. Another title unification in the early construction phases, Peters not the man that they want though.
Cant win a belt by just saying thanks...............Rockin'
