I'm glad Peter is sticking up for what he believes in. Boxing needs more stand up guys with principles like that.Comment

First time I'm seeing this...
Anyway..
Looks like a sweet dreal for Peter....The WBC, rather than get involved by making a decision as to who should get the title shot, ordered a mediation between Maskaev, Klitschko and Peter. Reps for all three parties met in New York last week, where Shelly Finkel, the adviser for Wladimir Klitschko offered Peter the $2.5 million to step aside, and guaranteed him $3 million to fight Klitschko if he wins.
2.5 Mil for doing nothing and then 3 Mil for a title shot...
Meanwhile he can have a tune-up with one of the tall guys to adjust to Vitali... (I say 500K)
So we're talking 6 Mil to face Vitali for the belt. Why is Duva bitching?Comment

because both Maskaev and Klitschko are both injury prone and if the winner gets ****ed up, who knows if the fight will come off. Maskaev or Klitschko could easily have an excuse to retire or site out for who know how long due to an injury. That's why they want time deadlines.First time I'm seeing this...

Yes, but he is getting $2.5mil for not fighting Maskaev, which is more than he would get for actually fighting him. And if the winner of Maskaev/Klitschko retires, WBC will either declare Peter the champion, or he will be fighting for a vacant title. Either way you look at it, Peter is turning down a very good offer.because both Maskaev and Klitschko are both injury prone and if the winner gets ****ed up, who knows if the fight will come off. no,,the problem is they dont wanna get beat up again by a klitschko becuase they know thats what would happen if peter took the set aside money. we'll never see vit vs peterbecause both Maskaev and Klitschko are both injury prone and if the winner gets ****ed up, who knows if the fight will come off. No, either way you look at it Maskaev gets knocked out. Would I rather have an old Klitschko that could just as easily get injured and retire....then what is the point of the fight? Or, would I have a young Peter who will be around a lot longer than Klitschko or Maskaev and just put on the best performance of his career.Yes, but he is getting $2.5mil for not fighting Maskaev, which is more than he would get for actually fighting him. Peter doesnt want no step aside money, he wants to fight for the title like a real fighter. This is just how Mosley turned down a 10 mill offer to fight a returning Trinidad at 160, and instead took a much harder fight for less money with Wright because he wanted to unify the division.
Peter would knock Maskaev out and then face Klitschko with at least a 50-50 split that would earn him more than the $3 million he would get if he went the other route.Comment
