surely this classifies as a street fight. If your everyday boxer can beat 4 normal guys at the same time, I mean hey...

Im gettin really tired of people who take the boxing vs any other form of self defense argument as "any boxer who has a 3-0" record will beat the crap out of some yellow belt in whatever martial art.

NEWS FLASH!!! OF COURSE THEY WILL!!! if you're going to make this comparison fairly....you're gonna have to compare 2 guys with equal skill level. I bet not a single 1 of you would be able to pick a boxer that would stand a decent chance of beating up Bruce Lee. A fulltime boxer would already know the intricasies of their art as well as sparring experience as opposed to someone that goes to the dojo twice a week. That doesnt mean however that Boxing is a superior artform. It does....as always depend more on the practitioner than the art itself.

Alot of boxers get spoiled n have tunnel vision after having gained ring experience. They forget that their gloves and handwraps are there to protect them....I dare any boxer to throw like they would in sparrring for 3 full minutes on a heavy bag without handwraps and see if u dont break your wrist within the first couple of powershots.

Artforms that teach techniques like chops and hammerfists exist because of that very knowledge. While by no means does it make them superior. You'd be a fool to not acknowledge them for what they are and underestimate them.

But to those who disrespect boxing, GO **** YOURSELVES.

I have friends that train in judo and think they would kick my ass if they get a hold of me.

BUT YOU THINK I WONT PICK A SPOT ON HIS FACE & SHATTER HIS BONES AS HE COMES IN?

Boxers are trully the top conditioned athletes in the world, hands down. These guys train becuase their lives are on the line.

AND IF YOU THINK BOXING IS WEAK COMPARED TO MMA.

THATS WHY THE #1 GUY (CHUCK LIDDELL) IS KNOWN AS A "GREAT" STRIKER!

You guys are idiots. This guy who rules the MMA does it with his fist. HOW FUNNY IS THAT?

Boxing has been around since the 4th century BC when the Greeks competed in boxing matches in the original Oylmpics.

BOXING IS OVER 2000 YEARS OLD. I mean skilled boxing, with technique, not monkey fights.

Get in the ring, see for yourself, and give boxing the respect it deserves.
It's probably a bit different in Judo, given that it's based around upper body clinch work, but you never really see someone get knocked out with punches in MMA as they shoot in for a takedown. You have a better shot of knocking them out with a knee strike.

Liddell isn't a great striker. His success in MMA was down to the fact that he had the wrestling to keep the fight standing, and his stand-up was better than his opponents. He has clear weaknesses in his stand-up when compared to guys like Anderson Silva or Crocop who are a lot more polished. And he's not the top guy anymore, he's 1-3 in his last 4 fights and has been ko'd twice.

MMA has been around a few thousand years too.

Me taking a guy out on the street means very little as I've had actual training in the sport since age 11, but I've taught both my brother and sister a few boxing techniques through the years and they've been able to beat the hell out of people with these simple techniques.

Most people don't even really know how to throw a decent punch so you can literally kick a person's ass with almost nothing but a jab. And I gotta tell ya, boxing has kicked more ass on the streets than any of those other martial art disciplines you're tallking about.

That's proof positive right there of how effective a boxer can be in a street fight. By the way, that guy can HIT! Homie is taking guys out with jabs!

There's another one of these videos out there that shows a guy and his buddy as they forearm this boxer's girl in the face. The boxer then procedes to kick the **** out of both of them with sharp combinations. Cant find the vid though.

Well how many streetfights end with spinning backfists?

Majority of fights finish with punch KO's. That's why boxing will always be the best.

Bruce Lee may have been a martial artist first and an actor second but any top boxer could beat him.

You're a fool if you honestly think that. Even the top boxers at the time paid their respects to Bruce Lee. Do some history homework. Dude never fought in a tournament with structured rules for a reason. Because it takes away the essence of a "fight"

Even so...dude trained a ACTOR. not a child prodigy who'd been practicing martial arts since the age of 5....but a damn HOLLYWOOD ACTOR. and dude became full contact karate world champ 12 yrs in a row.

Am i the only one who thinks Someone like Dawson or Hopkins could beat Silva even with his kicks? If they went in there with a genuine game plan i dont think he could stand up to a Dawson flurry. I also think Hop could confuse him as he does to many a fighter.

People forget about footwork man, and how important it is in avoiding shots. Boxers have superior footwork to anyone fact! The thing also when people throw kicks it can leave them off balance and square, a square target is a big target man

People also forget that when you throw a powershot in boxing you're putting all your weight on the balls of your feet. That's where the power comes from. Not only can that leave you off balance....it also leaves your legs unprotected. A few leg kicks and you wont be able to put any weight on your lead knee. Therefore unable to box or use footwork.
