Yeah the first half of the fight was good, and Ricky fought well, albeit against a guy that was as slow as a turtle, but in the second half he did very little and was just looking to grab a breather constantly.
I'm not sure whether I'm pleased that Hatton boxed quite well and didn't get hit clean that often, or very worried by his lack of stamina. Overall I think the former, because against p4p fighters his strength was going to be his workrate, particularly his only chance against PBF. His boxing skills are secondary at the top level. As much as he himself disagrees, he's not going to outbox Cotto, PBF to a win.Comment

Hatton will never get the credit he deserves from americans until he faces Castillo, Cotto, or Mayweather (and perhaps not even then). It is a common perception that americans won't rate you highly unless you are in a brawl on a consistent basis, but i don't agree with that. Obviously it would be impossible for Hatton to fight in that way (all the time) at the current level that he is at. Although brawls are great to watch, it would mean that a fighters career would be shorter if he fought that way all the time IMO i.e. Gatti changed his style to prolong his career.Yeah the first half of the fight was good, and Ricky fought well, albeit against a guy that was as slow as a turtle, but in the second half he did very little and was just looking to grab a breather constantly.

Hatton is criticised for the level of competition on his record, and Hatton is criticised for holding a lot during fights, but IMO plenty of successful fighters have been guilty of excessive clinching.
Also, every successful or great fighter has a mixture of below average, average, very good, and exceptionl/great fighters on their career record, and i think that Hatton will maybe have 2 or 3 fights against top level opposition before he calls it a day.Comment

uh the thread starter himself said Hatton did the right thing considering who was in front of him (Urango). that implies that Urango was at least a threat, which he was not as was said by anyone who had seen him going into this fight.Comment

Actually, when people on here saw the size of Urango (evidently casual fans who either hadnt previously done their homework or actually watched him fight previously) quite a few people decided that he had the power and strength to cause a genuine threat to Hatton.Comment
